Hello,

First off, I am sorry for another interview thread. Yes, I did use the search function. But my case is a tiny bit different from the "regular" ones that I found, so I will give it a try and hope someone has advice for me and my husband.

You can see my signature for details, in case anyone needs them. Anyways, the hubby and I are both quite young (around 21) and this makes is somewhat hard for us to get to all the interview evidences that older couples have access to. Mu husband is a full-time college student getting his Bachelor soon, and he works part-time. I was a student in my home country too and am currently looking for a job.

This situation requires that we still live at his parent's house since it is impossible for us right now to afford our own place. So, we do not have any lease with both our names on.

Here is a list of what we currently do have:

- Joint Credit Card account

- Joint bank account (that is, next week :) HSBC kept messing it up)

- Family Cellphone plan with both our names on it

- Cards and letters addressed to both of us

- Photos

yeah.. when I look at this list I sort of want to cry because it is so small. But we have been trying our best to get as many things as possible. Is here any other young couple? What does the immigration officer expect of people around 21? We simply can't afford our own place, or health and life insurance. Our marriage is based on love. It makes me insecure that financial proof has to show if we have a true relationship or not. I would be so, so thankful for any tips about what else we cab get. We have until March 10th. Thanks very much...

08/26/08 - arrival on VWP to meet my boyfriends family for a month

09/29/08 - heartbroken, didn't take flight back

10/26/08 - surprising proposal

10/31/08 - halloween wedding :)

11/07/08 - I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 sent via USPS express

11/10/08 - package received

11/19/08 - checks cashed

11/25/08 - NOAs received

12/08/08 - RFE received

12/11/08 - Biometrics

12/12/08 - RFE send back

01/09/09 - EAD/AP approved

03/10/09 - interview (pending approval)

03/20/09 - welcome letter

03/31/09 - green card received

I just turned 22 and my wife is 24 year old and I don't know how this will look like in the eyes of the IO. Our marriage is legit and true and based on love.

Why don't you ask your friends to write a letter that they've known both of you since then and all true and legit. That would help!? It really depends on the IO, how they perform their duties...some might ask a lot of documents of cohabitation and some might not....just be prepared to answers all possible questions truthfully and explaine it well enought to convince the IO and do not volunteer any information that isn't ask..good luck to your interview! My interview is this coming Feb 11..I'm feeling so excited and nervous at the same time....

We only had some few documents to prove that we live together such as:

-life, health, dental, vision, and legal plans insurance for my wife and I'm her beneficiary

-car insurance and I'm the driver

-internet & telephone bill statements

-cell phone plan only my wife's name but two numbers (wife and I)

-both names listed on other telephone company

-letter from our leasing consultant - stating that we live together as a couple since they took over the apartment

-checking account monthly statements (one for my wife's name and the rest both of our names)

-selected photos only about 20 of them

-cards and letters that addressed to both of us including post cards

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

hi. we didn't have much during the interview. just album of pics, joint bank statement, letters addressed to both of us, car insurance (with both our names on it) and letters of affidavit from family and friends. that's pretty much it. although i got an RFE for my I-693a during the interview.

good luck!

I totally totally am with you on that. I feel 'icky' that we have to show all this financial proof to prove our love. I keep telling my husband that, and he keeps pacifying me that they are just trying to follow regulations that will keep the country safe and rid of frauds. For every 20 legit marriages there may be one sham and they are just trying to keep the system clean. But I still feel 'icky'.

Here's what we are trying to collect to take

Bank Account statements

IRS Tax returns

Rental Agreement/Lease

Utility Bill - Electric

Utility Bill - Water

Internet bill

Life insurance

Health Insurance

Military ID Card

Passports

Both our birth certificates

Both our Paystubs for Jan, Feb, March

I-94 and H1B copy

Both our 2008 W2

Photo album - Wedding and older

Marriage Certificate

Our letters/Emails of corresponding when hubbz was in Iraq in 2005 and I was here in the states. (We were dating then...)

Letters/Cards addressed to both of us from family/friends.

Try your best to collect as many things as you can. Don't sweat it though. I like Jhunjhun's idea of getting a letter from friends too and give that to them only if they look like there isn't sufficient proof to prove a bonafide relation. What about a lease? Why don't you have a lease/rental agreement? If you live in one of your parent's house, get a letter from them stating that.

Good luck! Will pray for the best for you.
