Presidents of the past have utilized new technology as they emerge to reach the people. There have been "fire side chats" by Presidents since the 20's and 30's when Radio was the hearth of the home. On the more sinister side heads of states such as Hitler and Stalin used Radio as a tool to spread propaganda. Later came television and Presidential Elections were won on television such as the JFK and Nixon debates. Obama is the first President being called the internet president. Not only did he utilize the technology that the internet provided for harvesting small pockets of change for fund raising through his website his inauguration set streaming records for most watched online inauguration in history. Now he is using the power of computers and internet techology to make the white house more transparent. They have redesigned the White House Webpage in ways that radio and television shaped communication between the President and the People. Obama is asking for a more interactive democracy though a more interactive government website, http://recovery.gov/. Some have called the internet the open sewer where you can find anything you're looking for without discrimination. It is almost entirely an ungoverned virtual world, a technological era one of which is being pioneered and fine tuned each day. Will this new transparancy of government through sites such as http://www.whitehouse.gov/ be beneficial to our society? Will you really have better and more equal access to FOIA records? Is anyone going to request their FBI file at http://foia.fbi.gov/foia_request.htm to know what they have on you since the data mining technology was introduced in 2001 and collecting information on every US citizen?

What do you all think of the changes?

Yeah those websites are pretty interesting if you take the time to read them.

I was interested if Obama commitment to force even private religious schools into hiring, Not only Homosexual teachers but also Trans-gendered teachers.

I'm betting this is not the CHANGE most americans welcome.

I'm wondering how much farther left he could be on this issue?

Obama also believes we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in civil unions and other legally-recognized unions. These rights and benefits include the right to assist a loved one in times of emergency, the right to equal health insurance and other employment benefits, and property rights.

# Oppose a Constitutional Ban on Same-Sex Marriage: President Obama voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2006 which would have defined marriage as between a man and a woman and prevented judicial extension of marriage-like rights to same-sex or other unmarried couples.

# Repeal Don't Ask-Don't Tell: President Obama agrees with former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili and other military experts that we need to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

This is silly...of course danno isn't saying this, and when you accuse someone of holding these values when it's very clear that they don't, you completely shut down any kind of productive discourse. I don't often agree with danno, I probably disagree with him on this issue also, but I think he brings up a great topic of conversation that is worthy of debate. Why not discuss it intelligently?

In trusting your school, what difference does it make if say, a male teacher fondles your daughter or your son, equal damage is done.

Learned later on that one of my favorite teachers in high school, a male, was homosexual, was a very good teacher and he never tried to stick his thing up my butt, still have fond memories of him. But don't even want to think about his personal life style. But had teachers that I hated and still do, just there to make a buck.

Al Gore when he was VP talked about the "Information Superhighway" after he invented the Internet and reinventing government so Obama is not breaking any new ground except in this own mind.

If the only thing being debated is gay rights then it's a waste of time. I could of at least 100 other issues which are more important.

In trusting your school, what difference does it make if say, a male teacher fondles your daughter or your son, equal damage is done.

Learned later on that one of my favorite teachers in high school, a male, was homosexual, was a very good teacher and he never tried to stick his thing up my butt, still have fond memories of him. But don't even want to think about his personal life style. But had teachers that I hated and still do, just there to make a buck.

I would imagine most teachers are professional enough to separate their personal and private lives.

Yeah I would think that Most are professional in their duties too. But I was going farther than Just ** activity being anointed civil rights protection.

I also showed according to Obama's website, that trans-gender types will have this same protection.

Why would a Muslim or Christian School Or university be compelled to hire a teacher who clearly

would be contrary to core values and beliefs, what about this basic right of association?

Why would I as a Business owner be compelled to hire a transgender/ crossdresser to interact with my customers if I think a flaming ** or crossdresser might have a negative impact on my business?

Why should daycare be run out of business because they were forced to hire a 200 Lbs man dressed as a woman to care for children.

These people do have right such as the right not to be attacked or harmed, but when you elevate certain lifestyles to the point Obama (and many here) want, it then imposes on others basic rights.

He is pushing the pendulum way to far.

Not sure most Americans would feel comfortable with this guy as their Gyno or Urologist.

Yet with Obamas plan, he has that RIGHT.
