hi everybody

this is my first post...even though ive been a vj member since '07

anyway here is my first question...

i filed for a k-3 visa in aug-sept. '07 (i-129f and i-130)

both the i-129f and the i-130 were approved on jan. 14 and jan. 15, 2009, respectively

500 days!

i haven't heard from nvc as of yet

HOW DO I CHANGE MY VISA FROM A K-3 TO A CR-1/IR-1 VISA?

any information would be greatly appreciated

thanks,

jens

You filed petitions. You have not "visa'. Both visa cases are in process, so there's no need to "change" anything. Just pursue the CR1 case if you wish. The K3 case needs no further input from you. Ignore it if you want.

Yeah just ignore the stuff from NVC about the K-3. Read up on Lingche's guides, adn you can move through NVC pretty quick with the CR-1/IR-1. These days it seems like there's not much time difference between them, if you are prepared.

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

NVC doesn't require any response regarding the I-129F case. It's the Consulate you ignore. Make sure you know which case number is which and respond to NVC when they contact you in connection with the I-130.
