My cube at work is surrounded by Rush and O'Reilly freaks. Those two can light a fire under their collective privileged azzes like nothing you've seen. You bet Obama should fear them. If not fear, then respect them, if not for their views, then for the power they hold over tiny minds all over this nation.

Your cube mates ain't real smart if they'd have their azzes lit by a guy who says he hopes the new President fails.

He wants his socialist plans to fail. Get it right before you shoot your mouth off next time.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Hey, I'm just going by the article. I don't listen to him so I don't know what he said on air. (For the record, it's Limbaugh who shoots his mouth off daily, for pay, and for attention - so knock it off wouldya?)

If you've got some proof he said he hopes the 'socialist plans' fail - then put it out there.

Personally, even if he said it that way, it's still a slam AND it shows a pretty hefty ignorance for what socialism is.

"HANNITY: Coming off record-ratings year for you, but you are a passionate conservative. You've defined conservatives for many people in this country for years. He represents the antithesis in terms of his worldview. So then the question becomes: Do you want him to succeed?

RUSH: Now, this... (turns to camera) I am so glad that he asked me that question. (turns back to Hannity) I am so glad that you asked me this question.

HANNITY: I'm glad to. (chuckles)

RUSH: I'll tell you why. I am hearing many Republicans say that very thing. "Well, we want him to succeed," and prominent Republicans! "Yes, we want him to succeed." They have laid down. They have totally. They're drinking the Kool-Aid, too. They have no guts to stand up for what their beliefs are because they're afraid of criticism. They're afraid of being called racists. They're afraid of not having gotten with the program. Now success can be defined two ways. I said earlier, "I don't know about this guy." I really don't. I've got my suspicions and they're pretty close to convictions, but we're going to have to wait to see what he does. Now if he turns out to be a Reagan, if he adds Reagan to his recipe of FDR and Lincoln --

HANNITY: (laughing)

RUSH: -- and if he does cut some taxes --

HANNITY: Yeah.

RUSH: -- if he does not eliminate the Bush tax cuts, I would call that success. So yes, I would hope he would succeed if he acts like Reagan. But if he's going to do FDR -- if he's going to do The New New Deal all over, which we will call here The Raw Deal -- why would I want him to succeed? Look, he's my president. The fact that he is historic is irrelevant to me now. It matters not at all. If he is going to implement a far-left agenda... Look, I think it's already decided: a $2 trillion in stimulus? The growth of government? I think the intent here is to create as many dependant Americans as possible looking to government for their hope and salvation. If he gets nationalized health care, I mean, it's over, Sean. We're never going to roll that back. That's the end of America as we have known it, because that's then going to set the stage for everything being government owned, operated, or provided. Why would I want that to succeed? I don't believe in that. I know that's not how this country is going to be great in the future; it's not what made this country great. So I shamelessly say, "No! I want him to fail." If his agenda is a far-left collectivism -- some people say socialism -- as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

HANNITY: You want your country to succeed, and you believe that his views implemented represent failure, predictable failure, and conservatism would represent predictable success.

RUSH: Well, I don't know where what he wants to try has worked. It didn't work in the Soviet Union. It doesn't work in China. They're having to become like us in China in order to survive. It hasn't worked in Cuba. It hasn't worked! It didn't work when the Pilgrims arrived. They tried socialism. Remember, they had a plot of ground, they shared what they produced, and the slackers figured out they didn't have to produce anything to get goodies. So William Bradford said, "The heck with this," and he said, "Okay, you get to keep everything you produce, and you're not sharing it." So everybody had to work. They were really giving thanks to God for the lesson that socialism failed. It has never worked. The New Deal didn't work. You know, Hoover was president through the Depression for one year. FDR prolonged the depression for seven or eight years, and yet he's given credit for ending the Depression. It didn't happen! World War II ended the Depression. The New Deal didn't work. This is New New Deal. It doesn't work. If it works, it will be the first time that it works, but it never has, and I don't think this is going to be the record breaker."

Ah, I should have known we could count on alienlovechild to know JUST where to go to find the transcript!

A discussion between Hannity and Limbaugh!! Give me a break!! I HAVE listened to Hannity on the radio. He's hardly what I would call the beacon of unbiased opinon....

As for socialism, here ya go, according to Wikipedia - make out of it what you will.

"Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and an egalitarian society characterized by equal opportunities for all individuals and a fair or egalitarian distribution of wealth.[1][2] Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement as well as the intellectual movement that criticized the effects of industrialization on society. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.[3][4]

The first socialists predicted a world improved by both technology and better social organization, and many modern socialists share this belief [5][6], although modern socialists have a bigger emphasis on egalitarianism whereas traditional socialists favored meritocracy. Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, creates an unequal society and does not provide equal opportunities for everyone in society to attain such status. Therefore socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.[1]

Socialism is not a concrete philosophy of fixed doctrine and program; its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic rationalization, sometimes opposing each other. Another dividing feature of the socialist movement is the split on how a socialist economy should be established between the reformists and the revolutionaries. Some socialists advocate complete nationalization of the means of production, distribution, and exchange; while others advocate state control of capital within the framework of a market economy. Socialists inspired by the Soviet model of economic development, have advocated the creation of centrally planned economies directed by a state that owns all the means of production. Others, including Yugoslavian, Hungarian, Polish and Chinese Communists in the 1970s and 1980s, instituted various forms of market socialism combining co-operative and State ownership models with the free market exchange.[7] Social democrats propose selective nationalization of key national industries in mixed economies combined with tax-funded welfare programs and the regulation of markets; Libertarian socialism (which includes Social anarchism and Libertarian Marxism) rejects state control and ownership of the economy altogether and advocates direct collective ownership of the means of production via co-operative workers' councils and workplace democracy."

Oh - that little comment of yours about Ireland/Islam - green.................................really uncalled for, ya know? You ever been frisked just because you were going into town? Ever had your cousins brains blown out by a IRA sharpshooter? Ever looked out your front door and seen a soldier using your front yard for his nightly vantage point? Until you know a little bit more about the Troubles in Northern Ireland and how that might relate to peace efforts in the Middle East, I suggest you keep your comments to yourself.

You wanted to read his response and you got it. Stop crying about it. Who claimed these guys are unbiased they're POLITICAL COMMENTATORS? Which word don't you understand?

Brilliant. No source link and no commentary. Which part proves Limbaugh has a "pretty hefty ignorance about socialism"? There's a difference between understanding what it is and agreeing with all its manifestations.

Oh - that little comment of yours about Ireland/Islam - green.................................really uncalled for, ya know?

So Ireland and Islam don't share the same symbolic color? You're the only hypersensitive nutcase here to take offense.

I pulled more guard duty than you'll ever know had to do my bit in the Bosnian theater. There were a few people that didn't get along here and it was far worse than Northern Ireland.

I've been to Northern Ireland before and thought it was the best place in the British Isles. . . at least as a tourist. Falls and Shankills Roads wasn't the place I wanted to hang around Sorry you had go through those experiences but there's no reason believe expertise in one region helps in another. You forgot to call me an IRA terrorist. I usually get that one from most Britons when this subject up.

Were you in the North during the Troubles? Unless you were I still suggest you keep it to yourself.

These things didn't happen to me. They happened to my husband.

When you were in Northern Ireland, did you see the political murals? Did you see the military towers? Did you see the remaining barb wire and the RIRA graffiti that still gets sprayed around?

And 'pulling guard duty' in Bosnia isn't the same as being a citizen of a nation in turmoil. You don't know what the hell you are on about.

If you're familiar with Jersey, draw a line from Newark to Trenton to Camden and another from Atlantic City to Camden. Democrats win along those corridors. Republicans everywhere else. I live in D country, work in R country.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
