I-864 - tax transcript or tax return

Hi, this is my first post. sorry if this question is answered elsewhere - I tried to look, but couldn't find anything.

Does it matter whether to send a tax transcript or a copies of entire tax returns with the I-864? It is easier and cheaper to obtain the transcripts, but maybe this is just asking for an RFE?

Of course, the point of the evidence is to document income and I will - in any case - send pay stubs and employer letter as well.

No risk, USCIS specifically suggests simple IRS transcripts in the I-864 directions:

25. Federal Income Tax Information.

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photo copy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years.

You are not required to have the IRS certify the transcript or photocopy unless specifically instructed to do so by a Government official; a plain transcript or photocopy is acceptable. Tele file tax records are not acceptable proof of filing.

Tax transcripts are good, that's what we sent it, besides since it is from IRS adds to the credibility also

can get your transcripts easily and quickly by calling the irs at 1-800-829-1040

Only takes about a week to get it in the mail. You have to call and use the automated system or talk to someone so that they can verify the identity before they mail it out

Hi, a stupid question. Is the paper you get from your employee at the beginning of the year for tax called tax transcripts or should we just call IRS to get it?? Sorry about the question, but this is our fisrt time doing the tax thing in the US.
