the US citizen would be the one to write letters to reps of their state and i do recommend this for everyone. You never know when you need a good word from them, they cant hurry or change anything but sometimes a letter to show concern will help. even before interviews.

Hey ! jasman0717

Thank you for your reply..so I have to ask my fiance to send the letter to congressmann again :D

Good luck. You might also suggest he write one of his two senators, they are also responsive, at least the ones in California are.

To actually answer your question, there is no reason that you can not write to a Senator or Congressman. It will have no affect & they wont actually read it but you can as a citizen of Thailand wite to them.

Those Senators do not represent you. They represent the citizens of their state. This is why the USC would supposedly get some reaction to the letter. That reaction will be a responce from a staff member intended to placate him. They are experts at that because they have a lot of experiance at it.

The Senators from his state are Finestine & Boxer. Two of the most powerful in the Senate. Use the web to find thier sites. On those sites they have info as to how to contact them. Finestine has a complete staff just for immigration based issues. The women in charge of that staff is Gloria; she has over 20 years experiance.

In my case Gloria looked into the situation. It took over a month to get the first responce. That only came after I called her office 4 times to speak to her. Each time the staff said she would call me right back. She then told me she would find out what was going on & call me & send me a letter. She never called & when she did send the letter, she sent it to the wrong address. I called & wrote asking for assistance. Two months later I got her to answer the phone. She admitted she sent the info to the wrong address. By the time I recieved the letters I had found out myself where my case was ect. The Senators office had no affect on my case & only served to confuse the issue.

I have written 8 letters to Senators including Speaker Palosi. Never recieved a responce from one of them. I have no faith in these supposed represenitives of ours. Thier voting record on immigration should indicate to us what thier intentions are.

I think it would be a good idea for you to watch the Wizard of Oz movie & memorize the words to " Some where over the rainbow " before any letters are written.

lol....writing to lots of people at the same time is a waste. Concentrate just on the senior senator's office. The USCIS has a hard time with being bombarded with the same question from several different politicians and it is a pattern they see as a red flag. USCIS has its own congressional liaison office so the inquiries aren't going to anyone who is actually in charge of doing the processing somewhere else in the US. The USC should be the one writing...and be patient, as these offices are tied up now in the transition.

If your fiance can not find time to write then he is not showing he is serious about this process or if it is important to him. That is my opinion. I have a very busy life and work but I have stayed up almost all night doing research and reading web sites (many nights) and did because I love my fiancee and want her here with me forever and as soon as possible. That is why I received no RFE's and my fiancee passed the interview 23 January and I will be going to bring her back with me in 2 weeks.

Sorry that the above person had a bad experience with a congressmen and senators. However, congressmen and senators have an obligation to represent their constituents (people who live in their district or state). Some of these people are more concerned with your problem than others, but I believe that most, if not all have a person who works specifically on immigration. Congressmen (or congresswomen) represent a particular area within a state (a district/town), a US citizen can write to the congressman who represents his/her district. Senators represent the citizens within their state.

While it might not do any good, it might help (more likely if you are out of the timeframe for your service center). I believe it really needs to be the US citizen who contacts this person. If you are going to contact a congressman or senator, it might not be a bad idea to do both. It is also a good idea to call, ask questions, send in any supporting documentation and information they ask of you, and remember that these people work for US as United State citizens - we vote them in, we pay their paychecks and they are here to represent us!

Good luck, and stay patient, your approval will come through soon!
