can I get married and immediately file for AOS that same day?

Hello All VJ Members!

Now that I'm just counting the days and waiting for my flight to come,

me and my fiance are wondering if we could directly file for AOS a day after we got married?

0r should we wait for 3-4 months before the K1 visa expires?

We just wanted to have everything done before he gets back to work which would be the last week of Feb.

Hope anybody out there could advise. Your help is GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks!

the key there, is that for as long as you have the complete requirements upon filing the AOS, why not. anytime you can file pertaining you're married already and that you have what they "NEEDED"... i got married almost a month after i got here and filed AOS a week later after i got married... good luck and God bless! happy trip!

I believe you would need a copy of your marriage certificate - which could not be issued the same day (check your county's procedures for this). But you can file as soon as you are ready.

You definitely need to official document recorded at your county recorders office

If you have the certified copy of the marriage certificate, sure. I doubt you will. It needs to get to the court house and get stamped first.
