Hello,

My fiance and I are planning to get married in Canada in May. After we are married, we plan on staying in Canada for a couple of months, but then would like to move back to the U.S. as he is a U.S. citizen.

However, my question is is that although we haven't filed any paperwork yet, after we are married, can I travel to the U.S with him, search for a job, and if I do get a job offer, attempt to get sponsorship through work or do I have to get my husband to sponsor me by filing for a K3?

Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

You can but you can probably get an immigrant visa faster than a work visa and you'll eventually need immigrant status anyway. If you're both living in Canada now, I'd think in terms of a Direct Consular filing for a CR1 visa. Start by clicking on the word "Guides" at the top of any page here.

Thanks for the information.

Also, do you know if while I am waiting for my K3, can I stay in the U.S. with him or do I have to return to Canada and wait. (I know I can only be in the U.S for six months during a year without any paperwork.)

You can visit the USA. Again, I'm advising against the K3 and for a DCF filing for a CR1 visa. Please read the Guides.
