We'll all have jobs printing money.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Recently wrote my governor when he started talking about increasing the gasoline taxes, again to change those Double Fine Work Area signs, to Double Fine in Areas Where Guys are Standing Around Doing Nothing.

So maybe some of us can get a highway job standing around and doing nothing.

Also told him I wanted a 15' extension on my driveway culvert, city said no, hired a private contractor. Two guys came over, one driving a dump truck with gravel and the culvert, other drive an endloader, were done in two hours without blocking traffic and even sweep up the street. The the city came over to install a 20' culvert in a vacant lot, blocked off the roads, three endloaders, four dump trucks, 3 pickups, and a bunch of guys standing around doing nothing. Took them over two days to installed that culvert and left one hell of a mess on the street.

Also told him for a railroad underpass that we badly needed at a cost of a million bucks, his DNR sued his DOT for the sum of two million bucks because digging that hole would have disturbed some kind of worm in the ground, private attorneys made a fortune on this. But the underpass was built anyway after a two year delay. Guys had to hand sift through the dirt, collect the worms and put them back, now that would be a nice job to have.

Of course, he didn't reply.

Oh, I look so forward to this. More hassle with compliance #######. Ugh! It's not so much the regulation and oversight itself; the way corporations tend to accommodate these requirements usually suck.

Hmmm.

This is kind of dumb.

"Construction" implies somebody who knows how to hold a shovel.

Are managers going to dig all the ditches?

No, Pedroh and Jose will do the digging. But since they don't have papers, those jobs don't count.

Reinhard, that's flip and you know it.

There are plenty of men in my area who are ready, willing and able to earn their next paycheck by doing 'grunt work'. Hell, women too. I've got a female friend who can run a jackhammer.

None of these people are 'brown' interlopers. They are hometown people who are willing to work.

And I'm quite certain there are dozens upon dozens of legal "brown people" also willing to work. :P

That wasn't meant as a serious response. I thought the little whistler gave that away. It was meant to.

I guess about any job could be considered a temp then. I am a COBOL programmer and have been for many years but COBOL is no longer in demand so my TEMP is finally ending.

Geez what some ppl say. these jobs will be given to the lowest bidder or the politicians favorite. they will hire the ppl they need, when the job is done they will be laid off. Totally different than someone who CHOOSES not to further educate themselves on new technology in theyre field. :bonk:
