Hello

I am new and well about to begin my journey. It looks like we might go with the Fiance visa as the quickest way for me to legally get to the US. I would like to know how it all works out after we file what are we to expect, in terms of time? and what the outcomes if we get approved are? what kinds marriage can you really have planned in 3 months? what happens after you get married? I really appriciate all the advice from everyone.

Hi Amanda2020,

Take a look at the K1 link under the Guides tab at the top of the page.

There is a K1 Visa guide and flowchart that will go a long way in answering your questions.

You'll find lots of good information and support on this site.

Good luck,

Greg

You can plan any kind of marriage you want but to tie down dates before the visa is in hand would be pretty foolish if the deposits wouldn't be refundable. Technically, if your "wedding plans" are the priority, you have nine months from visa issue wedding day because you have six months to use the visa. Thousands work within those boundaries every year. Join the club.

Start with the guides for details and timelines but you're probably looking at somewhere around nine months from filing to visa, give or take a couple months either way. It's not a fast process.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

On the application is asks to list my children. I am currently expecting my first due in April, she will automatically become a US citizen at birth. I know we still have to fill out the application for citizenship and all that, or will she go under a diffrent process?

The US Citizen parent files a Consular Report of Birth Abroad to get a US Passport for the child. You list children obviously only after they are born, so not on the petition initially but if born before the visa interview the child would be listed on the actual visa application.
