For NVC, you can't use the automated system. You have to press 5 to talk to a real person to find out if your case is there.

I was wondering about that....so silly, you would think they would want us to use the automated system, easier for them. Although I guess it helps keep a bunch of people employed. Ok, tomorrow morning will give them a call before going to work, which with the time difference will be 1pm their time.

Hopefully they will tell me the case has been sent to Vancouver.

Does it have to be the petitioner than enquires or can the beneficiary call on their behalf? Only wondering because my honey is working nights, so isnt up when they are staffed I dont think, unless they are open late.

So Laura, have you confirmed that NVC has your case by talking to them directly? Has it already been forwarded on?

NVC does not have my case yet, unfortunately. It seems to be taking around 1 1/2 to 2 weeks for them to get cases lately, so I am going to hold off calling until next Monday. But yes, you have to talk to them directly. When you call NVC, press 1 for english and then 5 for an operator and just wait.

Has anyone heard that their case is at NVC yet? Just wondering what dates have gotten there already!

ETA: Oh! I just saw your NOA2 is 3/18....you should try calling and see if it is there yet...let us know! I know that some 3/17 NOA2s have gotten to NVC, so yours could be there..

I also am waiting for my letter from NVC and just called them at (603) 334-0700, talked to an operator and our case is not there yet. My NOA 2 was 3/19 so I'm not sure why it's not there. I pray it's not lost in the mail. Some people have their NVC within 2 days and mine is already 12 and it's still not there.

The operator said it normally takes 2-4 weeks and up to 90 days. Oh my gosh. I pray they will get it soon. I might call them everyday. The line is constantly busy so you need to use redial non-stop. Good luck to all...

has anyone RECENTLY had it get there in 2 days? I mean, since all those approvals happened so fast? Since that, it seems that the petitions get to NVC much slower. I was told the same thing when I called NVC. However, they have always said that I believe, and it clearly was not true. If I were you, I'd start calling at night, so you are allowing the full time that day for the petition to get there. Don't worry too much, I am sure it'll be there soon!

Apparently the cases get there very fast, but don't get entered in their system until they are sent on to the consulate (that's when they get a case number attached). And it all depends on the consulate when that happens, there is a waitlist for it (I've seen that explained on some US government site but I can't remember where right now, I have to look it up).

We got our letter from the NVC days after I had already received packet 3 (which I received 8 days after the NOA2 date).

I have called NVC twice, once they told me its not there and it takes 2-4 weeks to receive them, the second time they told me 4-6 weeks!! I tried calling today but it was busy ALL DAY!! I wonder if you call USCIS they would be able to tell you if its been mailed to NVC? I am just so anxious, I want to get this interview over already! I should be safe setting a wedding date? At least the venues said that if we put down a deposit it can be rescheduled if October doesn't work out! Arrggh!

Just got the letter in the mail from NVC stating that they received the packet, assigned the VAC Case Number, and were sending it on to the Vancouver Consulate within 10 days. The letter was dated March 27th. I had been calling NVC for the automated updates to no avail, even up to today. They had no record of the case... Proves Laura may be right.

Either way we're one step closer. Hope everyone else flies through the rest of the process too!

I know for absolutely SURE that K-1s are NOT in the automated system. I've seen that in almost every post concerning K-1 and NVC. And on my NOA2 which I finally got in the mail today, it said NVC is open til 6:45 eastern time. Try tomorrow and see what they say.

Sweet! I hope mine was in that batch too!! Did you press 5 to speak to a live operator at NVC? K-1's are not part of the automated system.

I hope it was too! Chances are good, I'd say.

So where did you find out that K1's aren't part of the automated system and why, pray tell, doesn't it say that in the flowchart? Silly. Never tried the live body option at NVC, assuming until Laura's post today that they'd update the automated. That's even more silly. I should know by now...

Question for anybody... Now that we've got our VAC# from the State Department, can Shannon get her medical done using that? She's close enough to Vancouver to make it worthwhile and that way she'd have it out of the way before her interview. Anything else she can do? We've pretty much finished all the stuff she needs for Packet 3 and she's essentially ready for the interview...

I've seen the thing about the non-automated system in countless posts around VJ...also in the UK forum in the posts about being between NOA2 and the Interview. I'm sure if you look around, you'll find it!

Yes, now that you have the VAC#, you can do the medical! If you have everything ready for packet 3, the medical is all there really is to do. Good luck :)
