Global warming is real & to trivialize the issue and make it a political one is beyond stupid. If the environment goes in the crapper we all lose... even if some of the variations in the climate are due to natural changes don't you think that pollution has an adverse effect on the environment? Sure the earth is capable of absorbing a certain amount of pollution, but it doesn't take a scientist to figure out that their is a limit. Moreover do you really want to wait until we reach this limit & then try to do something about it?

We can all argue stuff like politics & religion and although they are important issues they pale in comparison to this one... don't let this one slide into the abyss of mindless rhetoric like the other topics.

Human activities are directly linked to the expansion of deserts and the acidification of lakes and the oceans.

That we can have an effect on climate is not beyond the realm of possibility.

The topic of global warming came up recently during a military course I am taking & it seemed half of my classmates believed that global warming isn't real. We are talking about men & women in their mid 30's to early 40's, with at least a bachelors degree and 12+ years in the military (Majors). It's hard for me to comprehend that normally intelligent people were so utterly ignorant on such an important issue.

It is as hard for me to believe the other half of War College students missed the one major (no pun) lesson of bonehead logic: Appeal to authority is a fallacy!

Sort of like your parents asking, "Just because Johnny does it, would you jump off a cliff too!"

Given the recent bouts of snow in places that normally don't receive it, I could possibly believe the whole "Ice Age" situation. That's a shame, too. Living in Canada, I was hoping for global warming. That'd turn many Canadian areas into prime real estate.

Yeah DPX, you did the whole immigration thing wrong. Why the F would anyone choose the move where its colder? Especially from one of the warm states? ;)

Climate change theory doesn't deny that outside factors (like solar radiation from sunspot activity) are the main factors at work. The argument I believe, is that human activities upset delicate balances.

"Delicate balance." Let's see. As the ice sheet retreats, it exposes settlements in Greenland that show man has survived, and prospered in a different enviroment. And the riches that are being exposed? Oil, and other minerals, to name a few. As the temperate zone moves farther north, more ariable land is being exposed as well, and that will increase food production. Before the Isthmus of Panama formed, there was no permanent ice cap. The world changes, and man adapts.

Science and logic will get you nowhere with the global warming crowd. They thrive on guilt and emotion.

They think the climate should never change since humans are around. How arrogant.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

There is no such thing as global warming.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
