Today I forced myself off the house so I dont die of cabin fever and the roads were so horrible! At one point I was driving on packed ice And it has been snowing since about 4:00 pm now and it doesnt look like the snow is going to let up.

I now understand why the ice age is over...

The snow arrived in central Jersey! We have about 4 inches of wet, heavy snow and it's still coming down. Snow day for just about everyone!

I started my day shovelling at 7:30. It was so peaceful, no cars on a usually busy street, snow covering all the branches of the trees...just like home.

Well, yesterday I arrived home to about 8 inches of snow in my driveway. Cleared that out enough to get my car off the street, ate supper (meanwhile it continued to snow another inch), then went back at snow shoveling. Finally got the driveway clear and my car in the garage.

This morning I woke up at 5 a.m. for no reason, checked the close closing lists and saw that all the districts around my private school were closed so I expected a phone call around 6 a.m. saying we were closed too. At 5:45 a.m. the principal called, "There is no school. Have a wonderful day." At 6 ish my fiance' called, and we talked for awhile. When he hung up I decided to fall back asleep. Ah, peaceful sleep. Awoke at 9:30 to the phone ringing, "Hello sunshine." In my half-comatose state I had no idea who the FEMALE voice belonged too. It was a friend around the corner. Chatted and made plans to get together for supper. Now breakfast has been eaten and I am going to remove the final 4 or 5 inches of snow before the mail man comes. Yeah for snow days!

5 inches or so of snow this morning, mostly since I've been at work. Brushed another few inches off this morning before I went to work, and cleaned a few inches off last night leaving work. Doesn't look like it's letting up anytime soon!

Oh, and since we're in the snow belt, all schools are in session and workplaces are open. No rest for the....well, whatever we are here in Erie

It's a beautiful sunny 35F (2C) day here in mid-New Jersey. Roads are clear but sidewalks are still tricky. Those people with corner lots don't seem to shovel a pathway to the road. Poor pup has a lot of work to do climbing over the snowbanks if he wants to go for a walk.

Still very mild here in the Vancouver area with high cloud cover. Hopefully all the Olympic snowboarders have mudboarding experience.

Remember, I'm in Georgia 22 miles south of Atlanta - Gone With the Wind Country - and I just came back from a walk in the snow. We have 4 inches on the ground right now and it is still snowing, although it is a light fine snow now so I don't expect we will get much more accumulation. It was wonderful! I can't believe how much I missed walking in the snow when everything is that still, quiet, hushed type of snow and all you hear is the crunching of the snow under your feet. I was out for about an hour walking around the subdivision and then over to the nature trail and around a park near the nature trail. It felt so safe and comfortable and I didn't really realize until now that I don't normally feel this safe and comfortable when I go for a walk here. This made me feel like I was back in Canada and it was lovely. Anyway, interesting observation. I came across a neighbour who had already cleared his driveway and his sidewalk and was sprinkling salt on his cleared driveway. Turns out he was originally from New York, hehehe! Anyway, a friend who also lives in the area said her parents called her from Florida - and it is snowing in Cape Canaveral where they are. Weird weather - but kind of wonderful right now.

The beginnings of a two day storm here in central New Jersey this morning. The large flakes of wet snow covering the trees are very pretty right now but will be back-breaking shovelling by the end of the day!

Someone predicted snow, so everyone's in panic mode. You'd think living in the snow belt, everyone would just be used to it by now. Pfft, they're only calling for a foot.

My future father-in-law is concerned that there is "terrible snow" just the other side of Toronto and that my fiance' who is driving from Kingston, Ontario will have difficulty making it to Michigan. Yes, it is snowing along the 401. Yes, it will be snowing tomorrow but there are no warnings of snow squalls or anything. Radar seems pretty clear except out East of Kingston. My fiance' is coming to Michigan to visit anyway. Yeah! Hope it doesn't snow too much tomorrow...
