What does it say on you NOA 1 if you have it?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

no i dont have that yet, i only have the receipt number. i was able to get it online through my bank account. the phones are out here though, because of an ice storm, so i can't call.

to clarify, i filled out the i-129f petition for alien fiance. i know the mistake is on their end somehow, now i am just left wondering how long it will take to fix it. so this is not common then? it should definitely say i-129f petition for alien fiance? i was wondering if maybe because the i-129f seemed to be a subgroup of the i-129 work petition that it might just be listed like that?

The form says "I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)" in the upper right hand corner. To answer your question, it should definitely say this, on the form itself, and on any paperwork/receipt you get from them.

If they entered it wrong, you will have to call them and correct it. 1-800-375-5283 should get you the info you need.

that's exactly the form i filled out. i know because I followed Visajourney's guide's suggestion in making two entire duplicate packets before i sent the first one out. and now i am able to easily confirm that in fact, even though i think i'd be an idiot to have made this mistake, i filled out the "i-129f, petition for alien fiance," upper right hand corner. it would take quite a bit of work for me to have made the mistake in the first place just to get to that form, never mind have gone all the way through filling out the entire form, which is all employee/employer based info now that i look at it, which is what i guessed.

phone's out, can't call. ugh.

No worries about the phone call right now - you have a few months before they actually even try to process it (however, if they have it listed as a worker visa....)

Just call them ASAP and they can correct the error.

It might just be coded in there system as that, when they actually eyeball the package and see it's a 129F, I am sure they will correct.

but be safe - call

when you can
