SSN Application - Wrong DOB

Hello, we have a strange situation and I'm not sure what to do about it.

My fiance entered the US at POE JFK. When we applied for his SSN, his DOB was off by 50 years because when it was entered into the system through immigration...a "7" was mistaken for a "2".......

It's been 30 days since he's applied for his SSN and his number has not arrived. However, the SSN office claims this is not their responsibility since they did not enter the mistaken date - is there anyone else we can contact at Immigration to get this matter clarified?

Thanks everyone and Happy New Year!

moving from K-1 to:

Working & Traveling prior to getting a Green Card

If you do not enter on an immigrant visa when you get to the US you will not typically be able to work or leave the US without jeopardizing your immigration status unless you have an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or an Advance Parole (AP) from the USCIS. This section also covers getting a Social Security Number (SSN) and is for general discussion on all these topics.

YMMV

Not so strange, happens all the time.

It's not the SSA office's responsibility to fix the mistake, but it is their responsibility to take steps to verify his status.

You need to find out if the SSA office has submitted a secondary electronic verification request. If they did has it come back. If it came back did it verify or request a copy of his I-94. If the document copy was requested, was it mailed along with Form G-845. If the G-845 was mailed and 20 working days have passed, have they followed up.

We have the same situation..wrong DOB. the SSA need to verify the correct documentation. SSA will send copy of your passport and 1-94 to DHS and it will take a month to get response from them. Just hang on there!
