Cwaf, go online and search for California drivers license and see if they have the manual and a self test where she can answer the questions and be graded to see how much she really knows. It helps.

Congrats to all those who are getting great news, touches, EAD Cards and AP's and for those who are still waiting I am praying that this is the month of great news for you too.

To all of us who are having our interview this month may the process be smooth and successful. Be blessed guys.

It doesn't really have to do with USCIS but at least it is related to our marriage. I finally received the french family booklet and two french marriage certificate! So excited!

But I'm still worried for the rest with USCIS. Everybody is receiving things and us, nothing!

Your EAD card, AP document, Interview letter or approval letter will just pop up in the mail box, and hopefully it will be soon.

Went to the SSA office this morning, unfortunatelly, they were not able to verify my status online. The girl at the SSA sent electronic verification request to USCIS. She said if USCIS won't reply in a day or two, they would need to send a manual verification request which would take 4-6 weeks to go through which means I would be looking at 1-2 months before getting my SSN.. the thing that gets me is, SSA did not have problem verifying my 2 kids status so my kids will be receiving their SSN card in a week or 2. We just told the lady at SSA office that we might as well put the 2 kids to work since they will have their SSN soon and they have EAD to boot.

When we got home, I immediately called USCIS call center to make sure that my EAD status is in their system and the first person i talked to said, they can't do anything (she did not ask for my name nor my case number which should have been standard) and that I would need to do infopass but i insisted she transfer me to a supervisor so she did and the supervisor was able to verify my EAD status for me. The supervisor said they will transmit the info to the SSA office. Hopefully, things will smoothen up and I will get my SSN card in a week or two also like my kids.

JulianDavid, try calling USCIS and make sure you are in their system or you can make and infopass, they might be able to pull up your EAD status and give you something to bring back to SSA that will make your change of name application faster. I hope things will work out good for you.

WOW! what a lot of frustration!! I hope they get it smoothed over right away and your SSN card arrives quickly!

Im worried that we will not be able to get it before our interview date which will be in 2 weeks from now. Is it necessary to bring 2008 income tax in our interview? We only have 2008 W2. Will that be suffice?

We are in the same situation, I am waiting for either my EAD to come or an ITIN number so we can file our joint tax return. The local IRS office sent our Federal tax return to Texas along with the W-7 form (ITIN application) weeks ago and we have heard absolutely nothing! We are beginning to think that we may have to ask for an extension on the state tax return because we were told we could not file it until the ITIN number has been received.

I'm just desperate now for the EAD to come through soon, I need to work and it will probably take time to find work any way. Oh wel, thats my rant for the day!!!!

When I was applying for the new SS card, the girl at SSA office even didn't bother to explain anything to me She just took my EAD and marriage certificate, made the copies and gave me the paper that says that they need to verify the document(s) with USCIS which may take up to 4 weeks. As far as I understood, this is a standard form that is given to everybody in the same status and I doubt if she was trying to veryfy anything then. It is amazing what a different approach they have in every office, sometimes it seems to me that we live in different Americas

we are also a january filer... got our letter for interview set for may 12. Anyway, my question to any body who is in the same boat as me... Does the EAD comes as soon as you have the biometrics?? we had the biometrics last march 14 both for ead and Aos. But haven't heard from them since. Do i have to make a call to USCIS??? I notice that some of you got their notice 3 days after the biometrics. hope ours will come soon.. at least the EAD!! anyway, hope you could add me on the jan. list!! good night!

Just want to warm you in you are filing taxes with a tax id number (ITIN) that you won't as much back in your returns compared to filing with a SSN. The difference for us would be just over $2,000 so we are waiting for my papers and have filed an extension till then. HR Block forgot to explain that to us last year and it really messed things up.

i dont have my ead nor ap yet.. how come...and i dont see my status online yet.. is this normal guys?

I am in the same boat as you. No news on my EAD or AOS interview. I can see my AOS online but nothing on my EAD. Have called twice about both and all I get is that things are processing and if I don't hear anything by April 10 I should call back and they will look into it. I hate this endless waiting!! I hate getting excited every time I hear the mailman at the door! I am just thankful that I am 8 days away from being able to have someone look into it...I can call and hound people and actually have a reason. I hope and pray it doesn't come to that but at least its getting closer if I do.

So true, yesterday was actually my 4th attempt at getting SSN. First time was in the SSA in our county and the lady I talked to said i have become a K3 (i came in with k1 visa) since I have already gotten married so therefore, I was not qualified to apply til i get my EAD. (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=2379225).. per advised by some vjer i went back to the same SSA office armed with documents proving k1 and k3 are 2 different visa category and if you came in as k1, subsequent marriage will not change that fact. i also had documents proving k1s are eligible to apply for SSN as long as the I-94 is not yet expired well sir, the SSA lady (the same one i first talked to a week before that) got heated up and accused me of getting those documents by fraud. So me and hubby had to travel an hour from our hometown to another SSA office; a bigger, busier office and they accepted my SSA application without problem and even explained to me why they need to verify my status and also told me to get in touch with immigration through infopass and tell them about my name change and make sure i am in the system... it turned out, the immigration officer at my port of entry left the admission status blank, he forgot to write in k1 in that spot. By the time we found this out, it was too late, my I-94 was only days from expiring so the 2nd SSA office was not able to verify my status in time. Lesson learned, never go back to the same SSA office twice if they don't know what they are doing. We had to travel far yesterday to apply for SSN but I think we made the right decision since there was problem verifying my status again, had we gone to our local SSA office, i doubt if they would even attempt to send any form of verification request to immigration.

You are so true, how they handle things in their offices here (state by state and county by county) would really make you think we live in different americas.... i am so waiting how our local DMV office will handle my case when I apply for license, I have read about some people having problem with their DMV offices while others was able to apply with just EAD in a breeze.

Levi got the same answer when he went for his SS card about his status changing to K-3 since we were married now! Didn't matter since his I94 was expiring in 13 days and it has to be 14 days out or more for that but come on! Get your facts straght! We went back on the 27th of March after he received his EAD and no problems so he should be getting the SS card anyday now (a week to 10 days). It can be so frustrating!
