Hello friends

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. My fiance(e) arrived from Peru on December 19. I was so focused on getting her here, I am not sure what to do next. She told me they took her fiance visa documents at the airport in Atlanta. We reside here in Arkansas. My question is, Dely is here, What Next? Is there a list of things I should do in order? SSN, working, i.e., I know she is interested in getting a job. Thank you for answering the question of a novice good people. Stephen

Congratulations.

Do read the guides as they are your best resource.

She can go get a ss# after about two weeks from arrival (so that she's in the system)...but not too soon before the exp of her I-94 (90 days from entry).

After marriage you will need to file for AOS, the price of adjusting ($1010) includes work (EAD) and travel (AP). She can not leave the Country without AP...well, in the words of the true VJ smart@sses..she can leave, but she wont get back in. ;)

This is the page you need to understand adjustment.

moving this to the aos forum.

Congratulations. I would first get a SSn card after she has been her about 2 weeks or so and then go get a state I.D. card from the BMV. Then you can open a joint checking account and she can start getting some credit established. After you get married within the 90 day timeframe, go back and change her name on the SSN card and file for AOS, once you receive it she can work and travel outside of the USA. Good Luck.
