RFE for incomplete tax records

I received an RFE on Saturday - it states 'The listed income tax documents/IRS statements for the years marked below are missing/incomplete....federal tax returns, literal printouts from the IRS(RTFTP) or a Letter 1722 issued by the IRS are missing /incomplete for the years (x)2007'.

I sent a photocopy of my 1040EZ for 2007 along with an original copy of my W2 - I can't understand why they are asking for more. I did not send 2005 and 2006 because I could not find the W2's. I am going to call the IRS and get transcripts, maybe that is better?

Yes, i think the IRS transcripts are best because they show what was actually filed with the IRS. A 1040 or 1040EZ does not mean that the information was actually filed. Once you send the transcripts, you should be fine with this RFE.

Thanks - I'll call tomorrow(I assume they are available on Xmas Eve) I should have gotten transcripts to begin with but sending a photocopy of the return seemed quicker...D'oh!!!!

I just got all my husband's DS-230 documents by courier and it looks like everything is complete so I should be able to send it out on the 26th - MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

I want to have everything in so we can get a February interview - hope the IRS sends the transcripts quickly!!

your work can give you old W2s i was short one and ask them for it along with my letter of employment, i thinking about 10 days on the transcripts but now your including a couple of holidays and a lot of mail moving

Hopefully my HR office can give me the W2s quickly once winter break is over, college where I work is closed from tomorrow until the 5th of January.

I called the IRS and they faxed the transcripts (three years) to my Husband's office while I waited on the phone, you might try calling them and asking if they can fax it to you tomorrow. I don't know that this is common practice (I had requested them about 4 weeks earlier and they never showed up - so perhaps they were just going the extra mile because of that).

Anyway, as it will be xmas eve, perhaps they will do something nice for you

Just out of curiosity, why are you getting more W2's from your HR department?

I don't have a fax machine at home - will not have access to one until I go back to work on the 5th. As far as the W2s are concerned - I couldn't find them for 2005 and 2006 when I first looked so if worse comes to worse I will ask at my HR dept on the 5th - want to send complete records for all 3 years (even if it's 'optional' per the instructions) so they don't ask me for anything else.....

Only took a few days for me to get my transcripts via snail mail. 1-800 829-1040
