Question about age differences

Salam 3alikom :)

Hi everybody! I am completely new to this process and have a couple of questions. First, has anybody ever run into any problems due to an age difference? Also, has anybody had any issues regarding children from previous marriages?

I live in the US and my fiance lives in Morocco. I just returned here 2 days ago from spending the most amazing 3 weeks of my life with my love (L) We had planned on getting married during my trip but ran out of time because we had alot of running around to do between the Consulate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, US Embassy, translators, and the list goes on. :crying: As we were trying to figure out what to do to be able to have our dream of getting married still become our reality (because as you can imagine, this was astronomically heart-wrenching, this running out of time thing; and incidentally, i could not postpone my return flight due to the extra cost...i already had to postpone my initial flight dates ; plus there was visitation issues with my daughters' related to the holiday/winter vacation period) I remembered about the K-1 Visa and told my fiance about it and we decided to try to do this in hopes that it would bring us back together faster for our marriage than having to wait until i am able to fly back to Morocco to get married. Being separated from the man of my dreams has made me miserable to say the least and he is equally as miserable...and the quickest way for us to be able to have what we had intended to already have at this point (our marriage) is what we are trying to accomplish now.

Back to the questions: I am 41 years old. 11 years older than my fiance. Has anybody ever run into any trouble getting approved, etc.... due to a woman being older than her fiance? Age is only just a number for us, but do the people who process everything and approve everything also feel that age doesn't matter??Or are we going to wind up with some strange questions regarding this difference? Has anybody ever gotten grief regarding their ages?

Secondly, I am twice divorced and have an 17 1/2 year old son from my first marriage, and 2 daughters, ages 9 1/2 and 7 1/2, from my second marriage. What kind, if any, problems/issues has anybody had regarding children from prior marriages? I have custody of both girls, and my son wanted to move to his dad's about 2 years ago cuz he thought there'd be no rules there. If anybody has had problems due to children from former marriages, what was the outcome, and how did you have to deal with these issues?

We have not sent in our forms yet, but do have them all filled out and everything ready to go. We filled them out together while I was still in Morocco.

Regarding the fee for filing the I-129F forms: we have to send the fee inside the pack of papers, right? Which is the better payment form: personal check, or money order? and why?

We really wanted to know what kinds of problems may arise and get some answers and opinions to have an idea of what we might be up against during this process. I didn't see these particular questions addressed elsewhere, and these questions were something that he and i were talking about a bit yesterday, and he suggested that I ask in here. To get some answers from people who have already been through this process, or at least are in the process.

What seemed to be the most diffiucult part of getting approved? (other than waiting to be with the loves of your lives)

Any help you can give us is so greatly appreciated as once again we embark on our dreams of becoming husband and wife inchaalah it will all go totally smootly and we won't ever have to be apart again alhamdoulillah :)

I am also older than my fiance. The have not mentioned it to us as a problem or asked about it at all. Howevery, we have been in AP for over one year. I think the age difference is part of it-especially if the woman is older. If the man is older people accept it easier.

Good luck with your visa!!!

It is quite common for the women to be older than guys in mena. It seems most get approved with no problem and others as robina said..get put in ap. it all depends on the co and if they buy that its a true relationship. You arent old enough to be his mother so it shouldnt be as big of a deal IMO (sorry in advance if that offends anyone)

make sure you are keeping everything right now..emails,phone records ect ect

the k1 is also usually approved faster than a cr1 or k3 by uscis. it may be a blessing in disguise that you werent able to marry on this trip.

I hope your journey is fast and you are able to be with your love asap. :)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Wow  So about 10 minutes after I write a post I noticed the ones that my adorable fiance had already written!!! :P Which just so confirms what I was thinking for a while now anyway: I neeeeeeed sleeeeeeeeeep!!! LOL Gonna text my amazing man (L) and crash. I'm falling asleep as I am writing this. (past my bedtime) lol

For those who are concerned about me having been married twice before, I think it's sweet that you voiced your concern for his personal well-being to my fiance. It does, in fact, not sound good that I have been divorced twice and have children from both marriages. Abusive relationships are a terrible thing to endure, and while divorce is not a good thing, it is better than staying. Unfortunately, they also are rather a vicious cycle. Meaning that if you have been in one, your next one will probably also be abusive. Maybe not in the same way, but yet still is a sad cycle. There are those of us who have been fortunate to finally break this cycle, to pick ourselves up and brush ourselves off, and to find the right way and follow it. Took a couple of years. And it is since that time that I have fallen head-over-heels in love with the most amazing man. Wonderful heart. Incredible and honest soul. He is my love.

No we haven't been together all that long, although we know each other as if we have been together for 20 years. :D This is priceless.

Both of my ex-husbands are American, by the way. So I guess if I have to have an ex-husband , having an American one is better??? (with me living here)

Thank you so much....I can't wait to be with him again. I feel like there's the biggest part of me just missing. Gone. Soon we will be together again inchaalah :)

We usually text each other more than email, but I do have emails, ecards, cell phone records, and am keeping everything. Also msn archives. Skype records of texts I've sent to him. Can these all be used for valid proof of relationship? We have pictures, and other papers that we had to get while we were so desperately trying to collect every form that was needed for us to be married. If the interviewer could see us together they would know without a doubt that we have a true relationship. Are these interviews generally one-on-one or as a couple? I've seen posts that make it seem both ways, and i can't tell which is more prevalent...hmmm...

May every one of our journeys come to speedy, peaceful, and happy endings :)

I know how you feel :)

Well, he has the interview to present all of the proof. we arent even out of vsc yet, but i have some folders set up and ready to go for his interview.

we are including:

emails

phone bills

affidavits (still need a couple from my family)

letters(envelopes with postmarks)

screenprints showing daily communication no yahoo

& much more stuff i cant think of right now because i should be working, not playing on vj lol

I dont know if your consulate allows the SO into the interview. Like you, I have heard it both ways...some make you sit outside and wait, while others will let you be present.

check out the MENA forum, there are tons of morrocan SO's there...they may know

:)

I am also 11 years older than my husband (we did K-1) - I'm 40, and he's 29. We also didn't know each other long (less than 7 months at the time of interview). Also, my ex-husband (American) was emotionally abusive. My second husband (Moroccan) is wonderful! He's been here almost 2 years now, and we're very happy. My kids love him, too.

He had no problem getting approved, although they did interview him for about 90 minutes. It was the woman, who I heard is a real hard-a$$ about interviewing and approving people. I think it might have helped that I visited twice before the interview, and was there for the third time during his interview. Make sure you have plenty of proof of the relationship, and tell him to remain calm no matter what they say. I honestly think it bothered her that she couldn't figure out a way to deny him or give him AP or 221g.

Best of luck!

I'm 13 years older than my Aussie husband (I'm 37, he's 24) and I've been divorced once with a daughter from my first marriage. We didn't encounter one single problem in regards to our age difference. It may have helped that we already had a baby together when we applied (we held off on applying because soon after we got engaged, I became pregnant. We didn't want the looooooong wait to hinder him visiting when the baby was born, so we opted to wait till after the baby was born). We included color copies of photos of us together and a few letters and emails along with 3 letters of reference from friends and family members.

Just hang onto any evidence you have, and you should be fine hopefully. Good luck!

K1

06/28/07 Sent I129F to VSC

07/02/07 I129F Recieved

07/06/07 NOA1 sent

07/10/07 Touched

11/28/07 TOUCH! (Is it in the mail now?!?!)

11/28/07 (later that same day!...) got email notification of APPROVAL! NOA2 should be in the mail! YAY!

11/29/07 Touch.. Maybe they're just looking at it to get it ready to mail to NVC?

11/30/07 Receive NOA2 in the mail : APPROVED!

12/07/07 Receive letter from NVC with case number, saying packet on it's way to Oz

12/12/07 Aussie embassy receives info

12/13/07 Embassy mails out packet 3

12/20/07 My sweetie receives packet 3

01/23/08 Medical Exam in Brisbane (apparently the only doctor within 1,200 miles that does these exams anymore. The doctor in Cairns no longer does them!) My sweetie already mailed back packet 3 prior to the exam so that we could save a bit of time.

02/18/08 Receive packet 4, after they mistakenly mailed a pack for an entirely different person to my Aussie! He returned the packet for the other guy and then finally received his own packet.

02/22/08 Consolate Interview: APPROVED! (It went "smooth like butter")

03/20/08 Flight to USA, POE = LAX

AOS and EAD

06/19/08 Mailed out AOS packet (Chicago) along with EAD

06/24/08 NOA 07/18/08 Biomentrics appt.

12/15/08 EAD approved, card ordered
