Not really finding any hot deals on real estate nor new vehicles, $2K off on a $30K way overpriced piece of ####### is not a hot deal, thought the auto industry was hurting, but this may well be the reason. Banks want more for a foreclosed home than the assessed value. Our taxed assessed value is very accurate in our state, seen several homes being offered for twice the assessed value, but most are 30% above. If you are dumb enough to pay that much, your property taxes will go up by that amount regardless of what lies they tell you.

Christmas decorations sure came down in price early this year, up to 70% off even at the discount stores, how much is this stuff marked up? Wife wanted multicolored LED lights, they sold out quick, but we found solid colored sets as cheap as a dime per lamp that includes the socket, wiring, plugs, the LED, and a colored crystal per lamp. So we did buy sets of clear, red, blue, green, orange, white, and yellow and made our own sets. Ha, that was kind of dumb to pull and insert over 700 lamps. d

Did have to hook up a dimmer, tree would blind you, but only drawing 24 watts, not bad.

A new international restaurant opened in town with a fantastic buffet, roast beef, pork, ham, chicken, salmon, sushi, egg rolls, tons of fresh fruit, vegetables, dinner rolls, and just all kinds of deserts, all you can eat for seven bucks. Ha, know I got my seven bucks worth by eating a pound of roast beef, and that was just the start. Ran by the Chinese, can't even speak English, but now the line to get in is over a block long. Other restaurants in town have to reconsider both their menus and prices. Even Macs is hurting, when they start sending out free coupons. Seven bucks at Macs, just buys a hamburger, fries, and a drink and you leave hungry.

My employer has made a substantial round of layoffs. Although I was spared this time, I am now in fear of my job. That fear will cause me to cut back further. Multiply my situation x millions and you can see where consumer sentiment is heading.

The Fed has coerced the interest rate down to unheard of levels, to stimulate spending. That's the perfect solution, if you wan't to ensure the longest, most painful recession possible.

The perfect storm: Employer contribution to health plan dropping (hence, employee contribution rising), salaries are to go flat, bonuses, if any, will be severely slashed. Compensation will easily drop 15-20% or more year over year with such a combination. And that sucks. Personally.

Yes, i forgot to consider this...

me, too... i'm going out of my way to shop at the large discount chains, buying in bulk, which i never used to do... although now i'm shopping for two instead of one so the savings does add up.
