Hi Guys,

We applied for K1 visa back in may (sent I129F).

Our I797 approval expires mid January. However, we still didn't get interview date (though we got package from consulate and sent back required documents and got reply from consulate, that they will schedule an interview).

Is it bad if I797 expires before we get to the interview?

I found in internet some very old forum topic (dated 2004) that you can ask consulate for extension. Is it still possible? How do we do it?

Thank you very much.

This is great site and it has been very helpful.

Most consulates AUTOMATICALLY extend the I-129F NOA2 Validity for an additional 4 months if they cannot interview within the 4 months allotted.

For example the consulate in China NEVER interviews K-1 within the time frame, the extend them ALL.

There is a sample letter in the example forms above that you can send the consulate to remind them to extend the validity of the NOA.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Aren't the K-1 visa interviews now being performed in Kyiv for Belarus? It was always Warsaw before but now that Poland is EU I think they changed that... If they are being done in Kyiv, the applicant makes the interview appointment, it is not automatic.....

YMMV

I didn't know that. As I said we already received reply from warsaw consulate that they will schedule an appointment.

So now we gonna have more troubles getting schengen visa to get to the embassy.

How easy it is to transfer our case from one embassy to another?

Is it reasonable thing to do?

Many Thanks.
