Senators and representatives should only be used if there is a problem processing the application and it has been held up for an inordinantly long period of time.

If I knew a Senator personally , I'd be asking for strings to be pulled. It's all about networking.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I might try it. I was just curious if it was possible...it's not exactly a direct contact anyhow...

I'm sorry, call me Beoatching..but why should you get special treatment? everyone here is in the same boat...I would think if you saw that someone only had to wait 2 months because of who they know and you had just waited 6 you'd be upset.

I'm not trying to be rude, I just dont think it's right. On a practical note - i'd have to agree with everyone here. unless your dad is playing golf with the senator before heading back to his for dinner i'd say they'll just give you the ol' we'll investigate the matter for you. Then the ol' the service center told us you were in security checks.

Good luck all the same

Not fair. I don't wanna sound like a bitc#, but i hope they can't help you, unless it's like rhama said, there was a problem and they're holding your process. It's a very painfull process, it hurts being apart as it is already, now if people start ''breaking the line'' it is not fair. We all want to be with our loved ones and we all have to wait.

I know what you're saying Joey, but the reality is, connections make the world go round. You can refuse to acknowledge the impact of networking, take the 'holier than thou' approach, or you can take advantage of it when you can. As long as you're not breaking the law, there's no harm in trying.

Are you really saying that you wouldn't consider the same approach if could make a sginificant difference in your timeline...? and how would you know unless you tried?

OK, THAT was negative. I was only asking. As Jen said, it's all about networking in life. Would you get mad if someone got a job, just because they knew someone? No.

See, jobs happen cuz of networking. LIFE happens cuz of networking. These other replies only add to the fact that VJ has always been such a negative place to me (as I posted in another thread earlier). I do not get on here often as it only makes me more upset, everyone analyzing every little thing the govt does or doesn't do. I appreciate the legal help I get here, i really do. But the catty replies need to stop.

Thank you Jen, for saying go for it & not getting jealous or whatever it is other people are mad about.

It's unrealistic to think people will not take advantage of opportunities that are presented to them because it wouldn't be "fair". If you don't at least try, the only person you're hurting is yourself, and why would someone do that????

I say, go for it, devilette.

Nope, I'm not saying don't go for it or do - that's your choice. Of course I understand networking, how can you work in communications and not (which I do). But I know I'm not a line cutter either thank you and in my opinion it's a slap in the face to ask everyone here at VJ if they should do it. If you were going to do it, you'll do it...personally it feels like gloating to come on here and ask.

That's my opinion. I'll understand those who don't agree. Whatever I think of what you do I don't begrudge you any part of your journey and good luck.

I wasn't sure if anyone had tried before, hence, why I asked. I'm not trying to offend anyone.

Right, from a factual standpoint I think it would just depend on the senator's feelings and how strong the relationship is. Most reps/senators that people here on VJ have contacted have had someone in their office look into and come back with a status on the case. This is after they've started and gotten bogged down in the process. If your case is lost in process hell I've seen where a senator has helped find it. I've never heard of a senator pushing someone's application through fast but then maybe someone who isn't on VJ has done it. Hard to say.

Good luck

Joey
