Well I called the DOS today to see if I could get any information out of them and spoke to a woman named Sarah. She looked up my case and told me that there was no reason why they should still have my file (meaning it was not undergoing security clearances) and that the delay is because of our request to change the embassy. She had me on hold for awhile and called NVC and spoke with a supervisor that a status check has been issued on my file to find out why they are just sitting on it. She said next week it should be sent out to the embassy. I don't mind waiting another week, I'm just glad I finally got some answers besides the typical "still in AP."

Well, it looks like we are now members of the "AP Club" (womp-womp). We have sailed through the process thus far, so I guess we had to hit a snag at some point (or two - first the Juarez consulate shut down on Friday, and now today when I called the NVC to find out our status I discover that we are in AP). *sigh* It seems like the general consensus is to not pester them and things will work themselves out in a few weeks? Interesting though, neither of us has been married before or had trouble with the law - are these things generally just random?

Leaving them alone and let them work......Not me. I have read others that have done so and then had issues and delays that could have been addressed had they kept tabs on what was happening with thier case. I am simply have no wish to wait a extra second let alone weeks or days.

On the other hand.....I have read others who called once in three weeks only to find out that their file had been forwarded to the Embassy or Consulate.

WELCOME to the AP.....Hope things fly for you.

You can stand me at the gates of hell, but I wont back down.

Calling and talking to a CSR is not pestering them.. two seperate departments.. the CSR's just answer thephone and check the computer... same thing with DoS.... It can neither help nor hurt anything unless some communication has been lost in transit asking you for something additional.. you should be on to the consulate before the end of the month..

Hi Everyone, I know most of us are at the stage at NVC for case to be completed. Something I wanted to advice of which might be helpful. Remember the PCC plays a role in this, I am wondering if NVC checks to see these are received by the embassy or if the fingerprints are received to finish the case. Remember they want to make sure the embassy has everything ready when case is forwarded to them. Most Police clearances are sent in approx 30days, this could delay the process.

Just some info.Good Luck.

Honestly I don't think that has anything to do with is, as the embassy does not even instruct the applicant to obtain the PCC until after the case is received from the NVC. I know some people start early and begin getting everything done ahead of time to speed things up, but its not a requirement to do and the NVC does advise people to wait for the embassy to contact them before they proceed. I know in my case my fiance didn't have his PCC, and he still does not have it done. This is just my opinion but I could be wrong.

Hi, in our particular CR1, instruction packet requests to send Police Clearance Certificate, this is required by the NVC to complete the case and send to embassy, I came across something that I posted on a response early that there are extra security checks done at NVC if the file is forwarded with a hit on it for additional security checks. They will request embassy for fingerprints, which was taken during police clearance to be forwarded to embassy.

Yes that may be the case with a CR-1 because they are processed by the NVC, however I think most of the people stuck in AP @ NVC (in this thread), like myself, filed a K1 fiance visa. The K1 is not processed at NVC like the CR-1, they only pass thru and typically only get held up for a couple of days at most there before they are sent off to the embassy.
