Hopefully she didn't like the guy after meeting in person and swam away and is now TNT in the US.

Who knows? Stranger things have happened.

So you really think the real story is better to be like that? I can't believe you, Haole.

Sure beats drowning!

You shouldn't have added the TNT thing. Its so uncalled for.

what does tnt mean?

TNT - tago ng tago (keeps on hiding). is what pinoys call their fellow countryman, who is out of status in US or in any country. Coz he/she has to hide from the Immigration people to keep them from being deported.

I feel sorry for the Pinay. Surely, she didn't know the peril in the area but her fiance could have! Why in the hell did he bring her there? To have a more romantic proposal? Was he not contended yet that she came to the US under a K1 which really meant they were already engaged? I hope that the police would inquire more on the matter.

My husband was reading news from Yahoo tonight while I was preparing dinner. It was about a woman swept to the sea during a proposal in Oregon. The most shocking to us is that the woman is a Filipina and just arrived from the Philippines carrying K1 visa. Read the news on this link:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081204/ap_on_.../proposal_death

what in the world was he thinking? I feel so sorry and sad for the family in the Philippines. they must be overwhelmed with grief. notice in the interview how the fiance is so calm and collected and didn't seem to be grief stricken/devastated over the loss of his girl/fianc'ee?

The feller in question was more than twice the girl's age, punching a bit above his weight, no doubt.

I bet she said "no" and he chucked her in the drink.

I just checked the news again and this time there is a video news about the story (I think some have already seen this video). The fiance is interviewed and there's a picture of the Pinay fiancee. They were supposed to marry tomorrow (December 6). This is truly a very sad story.

I wonder if someone from VJ knows this girl.

We're so very saddened to hear about this tragedy. It reminds me of the night when my silly was flying here w/ my son, I was hoping they would have a safe flight. When I arrived at JFK I was so relieved when I looked up at the arrival board and saw their flight number was on "arrival" status. I knew then I would only feel completely relieved after I saw them arrive through the actual arrival doors where I was waiting.

I know its safe to say how precious we all are to one another, the filippina and the americans. Although we don't know her personally, it still feels like such a loss, esp. considering the long journey we're all experiencing.

My only caveat about this story is, if she arrived via the K1 visa, did he not propose before her arrival? And furturmore why didn't he at least attempt to jump in to save her?

Our deepest thoughts and condolences to her family and friends in PI.
