Hey Everyone! (F)

I haven't been around for a bit...crazy times... :star:

We had out AOS interview yesterday and he was approved. We were videoed and recorded...uncomfortable. There were two officers with us in the room...one was in training..he was sweet and the lady that did most of the questioning, although she tried to seem tough, was kind too. :star: They asked tons of questions, from dates, to addresses, to repeating all the questions on the 485 form (terrorist groups, drugs, affiliations, guns, etc.). The interview was about 30 minutes in total. After she finished, she said, we are making a recommendation for your approval and you will recieve you green card in 2-4 weeks.

Thank god its over... :star: Now we wait....

Wishing all of you the best of luck and a Happy Mothers Day to all the Mommy's out there! (F)

My husband got laid off 3 days ago. If he doesn't find a job next 3 weeks, we will move to another apartment or even another town. It means change of address :crying: But I don't have EAD, nor AP, nor interview date.

I need EAD to start working! We need to pay bills!

I received an email from USCIS regarding my inquiry about my GC...

They mailed my GC March 30 and the post office send it back to them..WHAT!!!!

I've been checking my mails everyday and even waiting for the mailman to come and that's what happened???

I just can't understand why the postoffice return it? I've received my Welcome letter but not my GC??

is there any vjers with the same experience?

And as their courtesy, they will mail it back ...

I hope the mailman will deliver it in my mailbox!

I know you got your welcome letter, but is your name registered at that address? When I first moved here, all my mail got returned back to sender  because only my husband's name was registered at that address.... We didn't know, so I had to go to the post office with proof I lived there (our lease) and then my name was added.... I started receiving mail after that. Few things before got through to me, but most sent back....

Hello folks! After several weeks of worrying & nagging my husband about documents & more documents for the AOS interview...guess what? Yesterday, the USCIS interviewer in Denver only asked us to show our identification cards & nothing else from my big, bulky folder. She asked my husband about my stepchildren's birthdays (to which I kept chirping in, much to my husband's annoyance :innocent: ) & my son choices to come here before 21 years old(he's still in the Philippines, an IT freshman student). She, also asked me how am I coping about caring for my occupationally disabled husband & some health insurance issues from FPPA & that's all. So, my inquisitive husband asked her why she's not looking into our documents? And she said that, she's been reading our submitted documents even before our arrival & its all in order. She also said that the way we behave & being so comfortable with each other are so typical of married couple. And she also told us that my husband being a former police officer helped in her final decision. So, it seems that we're already approved even before we set foot on her office. And we were 5 minutes late because the yahoo map doesn't exactly show where the new USCIS-Denver office is that we resorted to asking somebody on foot, but our interviewer was so understanding & accommodating that she even gave us time to catch our breaths before proceeding with the interview. It took 20 minutes & we're on our way home to Colorado Springs.

Boy am I glad that we're over with this process for now but there are lots of things to accomplish still...Thank you everyone for all the help & support. Wish you all the blessings & luck in your own journey. All praises to the Almighty.

Oh by the way, the green card machine is broken down so I'll receive my actual green card 3-6 months from now. For the meantime, we have to schedule for an infopass by next week so the USCIS-Denver will stamp my passport for a temporary I-751 and I can use it in changing names in my SSN as well as applying for a driver's license in Colorado. Best regards to y'all!

We have our interview tomorrow at the Seattle consulate. Nervous as usual and I pray everything goes well. We have a ton of paperwork and evidence to take with us, but unfortunately we didn't file a joint tax return for the 2008 tax year. I filed in Canada, since that saved us a couple of thousand extra in taxes owed (self-employed, bleh) than if I were to file in the USA, since I still have unused tuition credits to use to minimize taxable income there. Money is tight and my business isn't doing as well as it was last year so we decided that was the best decision. My name is on the tax return, Sarah filed so maybe that will help. We have have 2 joint accounts so maybe that will go towards the co-mingled asset requirements. I will post a review of some sort when we get back. Congrats to those who have been approved already and for those still waiting, hang in there! Have a blessed day everyone.
