NOA1 - Why some take longer and some faster?

Hi all,

I have read a lot of NOA1 receipt timelines and noticed some take as short as 10 days but some take a month or a few months. Is there any specific reasons why some take longer and some faster (e.g. longer because of insufficient information submitted, etc.?)

Thanks!

:) Rach

NOA1 is merely a case filing acknowledgment, not a sufficient or insufficient information submission notice

YMMV

Our NOA2 took us only 3 days on our I-130 and on our I-129F it took 7 days! Not bad, huh? Now if only the NOA2 would be so quick! I think that some take longer due to the simple fact that so many are being turned in at a given amount of time.

If it is lacking something critical like payment, or the current version of the form, they could send it all back without issuing a receipt. That has happened.

In my case, I didn't receive my NOA1's for my AOS and EAD. I just used the case number printed in my Biometrics Appointment letter so I can check the progress of my case on the USCIS website.
