well, I had an interesting conversation today, with a woman who worked for INS (back when it was) for over twenty years, at an airport... she was a manager or something, so knew her stuff... she asked me about my situation, and told me the following:

- you're supposed to be able to extend the I-94

- everyone is supposed to get their EAD at the airport (she says she used to give out little laminated cards)

- the whole point of the K-1 is that you're supposed to be work-legal from the day you arrive

- when I told her about stamps only available at JFK, and long waits for EAD and AP, and so on, she didn't believe anything I was telling her, half in the 'you must be wrong' and half in the 'I can't believe it!!!' sort of way

looks like things have changed, but not for the better... she only got out of the business a couple of years ago though, so I guess it's gone downhill fast

yes, totally agree with the above... if there are still worries about the marriage - which is the reason for there being different rules for people who have been married less than two years, or so I understand it - they can issue three month (or whatever) permits, which can be renewed as needed, before the permanent paperwork comes through... there are SO many ways to change it just slightly and make it more human, but are they interested? are they hell

I'm going to spend some time contacting various people about this whole thing, in coming months... not in any attempt to make my own process any easier - for a start, my process will hopefully be largely over - but just to raise awareness of how ####### it all is

I have told so many Americans about my situation, and to a one, they're surprised, and then outraged (and sometimes a bit embarrassed ); certainly none of them are aware... I think they should be made aware

No, I didn't dream about you this time, Julez. I dreamt I was back in high school, but I was an adult. I had a very small part in a play, literally 3 lines, but I hadn't learned them. I was paranoid about this, but figured I could learn 3 lines in an hour. My costume had me wearing matching tan shoes and a bag, and a hat with an ostrich plume on it. I think the clothes were sort of 1940s. Anyway, I was fixated on getting my lipstick right and I realised #######! When am I supposed to go on? Can I just read my lines from the script?

Then this girl I couldn't stand -- whom I went to school with from grade school all the way through high school -- started asking me if I wasn't supposed to be getting something out of my locker in the day student room. (I went to a boarding school, but was a day student for 3 out of 4 years.) I walked down the hall, teetering in these fugly tan heels and exclaiming how much the place still looked the same. I went to my old locker from freshman year and got my script out and started poring over it. I ran to the theatre and discovered that a fire alarm was going off and everyone was leaving -- and it hadn't been time for me to go on yet. I had a few hours to learn my lines. Then I thought to myself -- how odd. I'm in the play but there were never any rehearsals in the first place.

Thus endeth another one of the maven's weird-azz dreams.

I'm impressed that you remember them so well!! I think I had a dream that my back brace thingy turned up - nothing exciting here... oohhhhh it would be so good if my bra turned up today as well

Jeremy closes today and tomorrow so I have two nights to myself along with tomorrow's Thursday night Zin When he goes to work today I will do all my cardio before dinner and then chillout for the evening I wish I was fit enough to get 30 mins of cardio in in one go - I have to do it in ten minute intervals right now and it is kinda annoying...
