Well this is the post I've been waiting for - our final approval from the Embassy! My fiance flew into London on Thursday for his medical and his interview on Friday. Everything went really well, he seemed to give them everything they hoped for, and they told him that everything was approved on the administrative side. They said they will send out his Visa once they get the medical results in. We are hoping for those to come early this next week, and the Visa later on in the week. Wooo, finally some light at the end of the long tunnel! :D

And also, for those of you that haven't gone through the interview process at the London Embassy yet, I'll summarize what it was like for my fiance:

  • He arrived 40 minutes before his interview time, and had to wait in a queue outside.
  • Someone comes through the line, verifying everybody has their letter and everything.
  • Once inside, he went through a metal detector, had to leave behind his pocket PC because it wasn't allowed in (no computers of any type), and got a number and was sent to a waiting room.
  • Number was called, and he was shuffled to a British teller in a booth with a glass enclosure wanting to verify that he had all his necessary paperwork first. He did, and was told to go sit back down and wait to be called again.
  • Waits about an hour, and then number is called again. This time goes for his "interview." From the sounds of it on the various boards, we both expected he would go into an office and have a chat with somebody. It was not like that at all - another person in a glass booth. This time, an American woman.
  • She asked him how we met, and a couple other questions about us. It seemed at this point that they had already read over all of the information we'd sent in prior to this day and did find us "legit," so very little questions were asked and he never felt like he had to prove our relationship to her.
  • She said she was happy that we had everything in order, stamped "APPROVED" on the paperwork and told him the Visa would be sent to him once they got the medical results back.

So there you have it. Security seems pretty tight there right now, but everything seems to be as orderly as usual.

I'm off to do the "Happy Dance" some more, thanks so much to all of you for your support thus far! :D

~Marissa

He scheduled the medical for June 1st, sent off his checklist specifying that and they scheduled the interview for the day after. He didn't ask them to do this, just happened to work out that way. They won't give you an interview date until after you've at least BOOKED your medical. It worked out well for him, as he also doesn't live in London and had to book a flight. I think they try to be somewhat accomodating to people that they know will have to fly to get there.

Hope I explained that well, let me know if not. Best of luck! :)
