Do you have to go to the biometrics appointment with your wife or can she go on her own or with someone else. The reason i'm asking is that i work offshore and i leave on the 3rd of december and her appointment is the 5th.

Only the alien is allowed in the biometrics area.... If you or anyone else accompanies the alien, the best you can hope for is to get into only the waiting area anyway. In fact, some ASC's are so cramped for space, they won't even let anyone in but the alien.

I did go to the AOS one but I couldn't go over where they made the applicants wait, I had to sit in an outside area. She had to wait about 30 minutes and the biometrics for AOS only took about a minute. They did a finger print and a picture. She went by herself for lifting conditions

So i can just get one of my family members to take her. Does it matter if she doesn't speak english? Thanks for the help.

Interpreters are the "exception" to the admittance restriction to the biometrics area...

YMMV

Yes but does she need an interpreter or not?

Yes but does she need an interpreter or not?

Only you can determine that based on your knowledge of her limited language skill.... They do not provide

She doesn't really need one...but she will need to understand english (written and spoken) in order to fill out the form they give you and to understand the instructions upon entering the building...I've seen ppl (when i went for mine) that spoke not 1 word of english and managed just fine...

The form I filled out had English and Spanish on it, does everyone get the same form? I went to the Boston office, there wasn't all that much talking between me and the person taking the fingerprints, she pointed at the screen and asked if the details on it were correct (address, name spelling etc), but they get that from the barcode I guess? there was another person in the room with me, they had someone who spoke English with them.

It is only fingerprints and photos - no real questions to answer. Takes maybe 10 minutes once your name is called.

If you're going to go with her - you'll be allowed to wait with her and it'd be good you're there to help her check in at the information desk. Otherwise it's fast and painless. Our 'bio-tech' never spoke a word the whole time.
