Stamp on the passport after AOS interview

My wife and I had the AOS interview about a month ago. During the interview, it turned out that we were missing the form I-693, the medical form. I thought that the medical appointment at the consulate back at home was specifically for the purpose of checking on diseases and vaccinations, but apparently you have to submit the same medical forms twice in less than a year…and pay $200 for another HIV test…Before the interview, just to be safe, I called the INS customer service and I was told in two different occasions that there was no need for resubmitting the I-693 form twice....

That day I did not get the green card. The immigration officer with whom we interviewed gave me a few days to produce the form. I was able to meet this deadline and now, thankfully I received a letter from the INS saying that my AOS was approved.

So my question is, since the day of the interview I did not get any stamp on the passport, do I need to call INS and inform them of that or does the card itself suffice for the purpose of staying, working, and traveling?

Thank you

Nicola

The stamp is something that is sometimes given to successful applicants at the interview so that they may travel and start working until they receive the greencard. Once you receive the greencard, that is all that you need to do everything else.
