We have found conflicting instructions for the documents collected for the P-3; one set of instructions says to send the originals with a copy to the NVC with the DS-230, and the other says to take them to the interview in GUZ China. Please help us get this sorted out, Thanks, Mike & Yizhen

married in Nanning 10/28/06 I-130 mailed 11/24/06 I-129F mailed 12/8/06

I-130 & I-129F both approved 3/1/07

I-824 sent 3/9/07 K-3 sent to GUZ 3/15/07

K-3 P-3 sent 5/30/07 P-3 ret'd 5/31/07 (P-3 rec'd by mail 6/7/07)

rec'd P-4 6/27/07 interview 8/8/07 (rec'd P-4 by mail 7/3/07)

Interview 8/8/07 "PINK" entered US 8/27/07

Rec'd approved I-824 & re-approved I-130 10/11/07

after 12.5 mo. DHS Ombudsman sends I-130 to NVC 10/30/08, and asks for case to be expedited

NVC rec'd 12/26/08, NVC to GUZ 1/5/09,

NVC sends email to GUZ requesting Expedite 1/9 or 1/14? DOS says "waiting for interview date" 2/9

INTERVIEW 4/28/2009 P-4 delivered to US in 6 days via FedEx 3/26/2009

4/28/2009 INTERVIEW PINK ! ! ! !

VISA PICK-UP 4/30/2009 9:50 AM

Enter IR-1 POE Chicago "ORD", SS Card 6/27/09, welcome letter 7/2/09

10 YEAR GREEN CARD 7/6/2009

To NVC you have to send either -- originals or certified copies from the issuing agency along with photocopies.

If originals have been submitted to NVC, there isn't any need of anymore originals for consulate, only photocopies. NVC forwards originals to the consulate after case completion.

This depends on the type of visa you are pursuing. For the CR1/IR1, these documents are submitted to the NVC after payment of the Affidavit of Support and IV fee bills. The NVC then forwards the documents to the embassy.

For K1/K3 visas, these documents are brought to the interview by the beneficiary.

I think for China, we only send the I-864 and the DS-230 with the OF-169 to the NVC, and we take the documents to the interview in GUZ, please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks, Mike & Yizhen

yes, you are right.. we are doing the same now, after such a long time.. :thumbs:

K visas get sent automatically to Consulate (our I-129F approval did that, but lawyer told us to ignore the packet 3 coming from that)..

IR-1/CR1 (I-130) visas go to NVC and they send you the Packet 3.. then everything gets sent to consulate for Packet 4..

I-130 STAGE 1 : 533 days - 1 year 6 months (4/16/2007 to 9/22/2008)

Priority Date I-130 : 4/16/2007 ( 533 days , APPROVED 9/22/2008)
Transferred to local office based on "security checks" : 11/27/2007
wrote hundreds of letters - received letter from FBI Records Management Chief stating no security checks
local office interview : 2/21/2008 - brought my parents too (result : you will get approval within 2-3 weeks)
5/2/2008 - (lawsuit) Writ of Mandamus - OFFICIAL DATE (7/29/2008)

Interview Passed : 12/9/2013

Visa "Issued" on CEAC : 12/10/2013
