I always joke with my husband about my "Albanian Visa" It is a piece of paper photocopy paper with I assume the word "paid" on it in Albanian. Cost me a whole $20 in the airport. It doesn't even have a date on it.

I'm sure this is a totally stupid question, but I'm new to all this and just have to ask.

Why can I, a US citizen with a passport, get on a plane and go to the Philippines with no problem. I'm issued a visa on the spot. But my Filipino gf, who also has a passport, can not do the same? She's a virtual prisoner in her country. What would happen if she just got on a plane, passport in hand, and flew to the US?

Unfortunately, single Filipinas have almost no chance of coming to the U.S. as a visitor. The reason is that once they enter our borders, they almost always stay -- illegally, if necessary. If you observe conditions in the Phils, you'll see that young women generally face a hopeless future in their own land unless their families are well connected and on the affluent side.

Because there is a regulations that certain countries needs a visa to come to the USA or vice versa. Recently, the South Korean citizens and other 5 countries can fly to USA without visa. If we let just anyone fly to USA just because they have visa, then why even have country borders or POE?

She won´t be able to take the plane, inmigration officer won´t let her to put her body inside of the plane, it is the same way for all poor country. She can fly to US if she she has a US valid visa. Period.
