Yes, you should bring along the marriage certificate with you when travel, as the officer at port of entry will want to review that from my past experience.

If you GC or AP is in your married name, then you will need your marriace certificate to show the name change. The documents (Passport and GC/AP) have to match or you need a marriage certificate to show name change.

FYI-You don't need to officially change your name in a court for it to be legal. You can begin using your husband's last name right after marriage. Once you are married, the marriage certificate is your proof of the name change (if you want it). Some people choose to continue using their maiden name. It's your choice, but know that you don't have to change your name in a court to be able to use the married name.

I always travel with my marriage certificate but I've never been asked to produce it, both with my AP, and with my GC. My passport is in my former name... my GC is in my married name. My husband's name is on the visa in my passport, anyway, and the GC contains all the biographical information and pic. One swipe and everything about you pops up on their screen. I still carry my marriage certificate, though. lol

Well we got married in a court house and I don't want to change my name till I have an actual wedding with the white dress etc, so that's why I didn't figure I would need to take it.
