Hi Amy,

You're welcome :). After all, you deserve "well wishes" for your "special day". Glad that you had a beautiful wedding, despite the cold weather. Looking forward to viewing your wedding photos after you get them back and thanks in advance for sharing them.

Ant

Thanks for all the well wishes everybody! The wedding day was a bit ridiculous with things getting messed up, but the wedding itself was beautiful despite the fact that we were so cold our fingers were almost purple! I can't wait to get my pictures back and share them all with you!

wow congrats and best wishes

Okay, so tomorrow's our wedding. I can't believe it's here already. All this planning and stress and everything and it's almost over. My only wish for tomorrow is that we get a little bit of sun! It snowed here today which is unheard of!

Congrats to SonoranSongbird and Jon and Mary who are also getting married tomorrow!

Hi Amy and Everyone,

Speaking of weddings, this reminds me of my "how to chaotically prepare a wedding/elopement in a week" situation that I experienced here in New York State, about 2 years ago or so. As you you see, I didn't have a lot of time (if any) to prepare at all!:

-7 days/1 week before: My boyfriend/husband and I decide to get married/eloped during my visit here in the USA

-6 days-5 days before: Arrange for a "officiant/minister" to marry us (thank goodness they were available last-minute)

-4 days before: Apply for a "marriage license" (there is a 48 hour waiting period from application to wedding too)

-3 days before: Search for and reserve "park/garden" for wedding

-2 days before: Shop for and buy "wedding stuff" (lol..last minute shopping!)

-1 day before: Inform family that they were invited to the "wedding". Also found an "informal family photographer"

-The day of (as also mentioned on my VJ timeline too, and see my timeline for more info too):

"Chapter 2 "Married": Ant and D had a small garden/park spontaneous elopement in the Niagara County Region NYS USA on 2006-04-28. A memorable and lovely occasion, on the eve of D's milestone birthday. D and Ant, as Husband and Wife, happily married and living together. Chapter 2 Timeline: Together Forever!" We also got the "marriage certificate" the same day after (literally 20 minutes after the we got married). With the signed papers we then drove directly from the park to the city hall to pick up the certificate in-person, instead of waiting an extra two weeks for it. And voila...a perfectly "legal" marriage completed with a "NYS legal marriage certificate/document", all done within a week....

Hope this helps (or at least makes you laugh...lol... :) ...). Good luck too with the rest of your "married life happily ever after" and the rest of your immigration journey too.

Thanks everyone! It really was a comedy of errors in some ways. I was so thankful that the wedding was at 5 instead of earlier in the day.

It all started on Friday when it got really cold and windy. Later in the evening it started to rain and then it SNOWED! It was the earliest snow they've ever had here they said on the news! Craziness! My Canadian family was expecting MUCH warmer weather, and so was I! Of course it's really warm now though! :P Bright and sunshiny!

On the morning of the wedding we were running behind as we stopped to pick up some extra decorations for the hall. I'm really grateful that I have a huge family because it made the decorating so much faster and easier. We finished decorating around noon and had just enough time to run over and pick up the flowers at 1 o'clock. Then we had to make a stop at the super packed mall for a few last minute items before we headed to the salon at 2 pm! We managed to get a quick bite to eat and then my dad dropped me and my mother and sisters off to get our hair/makeup done etc.

We get to the salon and they don't have the appointments that I booked, and of course it's Saturday and there's homecoming at one of the schools so it's PACKED! Anyway, they manage to get it sorted out, but we start about half an hour late, and we only had 2 hours to do my hair and makeup as it was. My makeup ended up being done by the really experienced makeup lady so it looked really good, but it was definitely done in a time crunch. I had two hairstylists curling my hair and at one point I had my lipstick being put on simultaneously! I finally get back to the hotel and manage to get my dress on, my mom cursing all the while! :P

She rushed me out of the hotel room so fast I didn't have a chance to think if I was missing anything, so off we go. We get to the venue and the groom's mother is running late and I'm like "OH GREAT!" My little sister comes and asks me....Mom needs your ring. All of a sudden it dawns on me...I KNEW I was forgetting something! So my dad takes off back to the hotel to get my wedding ring, which I guess wasn't as bad as it could have been as hubby's mom and stepdad STILL weren't there! It all just made me shake my head and laugh. We started about a half hour late I think in the end.

It was cold out and everyone was shivering as they sat by the lake for the ceremony but for me, the only part of me that was cold was my hands. My fingers were a little bit red, but I felt warm inside. As we were walking down the aisle I was trying not to cry and I told my mom to tell me something funny to make it stop. Instead she started telling me how proud she was of me which just made me cry more! :P It was great. It was especially wonderful to see my hubby well up as he saw me coming down the aisle.

The pictures went fantastic and the dinner was SO good. Since we were having a small wedding we ate dinner, cut the cake, opened presents, had a first dance, and were all done by about 9:30. Overall, even though things didn't go perfectly I thought it was the perfect wedding for me. I had so much fun!
