Most of you might have insurance through work or some other group plan. If you are like me you might have added your spouse to your plan. If so, those vaccinations required by immigrations should be covered under your insurance. Thats savings of hundreds of dollars.

That's true, except that some doctors may ask why you need the vaccinations. If you say "immigration" they'll usually say "sorry, insurance doesn't cover that".

that's right. make sure that you check the details of the coverage as they may have excluded medical expenses for immigration purposes.

Check your city's health department as they offer very cheap vaccinations as opposed to getting it from a doctor's clinic.

As long as the doctor doesn't ask and you don't tell him, it's all good. But as soon as he/she hears the word "immigration", another sounds follows closely behind. That sound is "chi ching". Immigration means big money to doctors, not the $30-40 that they will get from your insurance company for the visit. They can charge you the full cash rate.

not really. If your doctor says that, you need to find a new doctor.

I called and told them that I needed to get immunization shots and I told them it was for immigration and they said before they would give shots out they would need to do a blood test to see if we already have them. If we do need them, it falls under "preventitive care" so there would be no cost. Did you know as US citizens there are vaccinations that we must get as well? Matter in fact I think I am due for the tetanus shot.

I know that, technically, my insurance covers vaccinations. However, when some doctors hear "immigration" they immediately think $$$ and try to charge you the cash rate.

I got mine under my insurance plan also. I called up and told them exactly what was going on and they just gave me the shots that I needed.
