Medical Question 693??

My wife is a K-1 entry....she had a medical done and I have Vaccination Documentaion Worksheet, but I don't see 693 or 693a on it so what do I do................

Technically (based on the instructions of I-693), a K-1 whose exam was less than 1 year before applying for AOS needs to submit an I-693 completed by a Civil Surgeon, but parts 2 (medical exam section), parts 3, and 4 are left blank and don't even have to be sent in, just part I, part 2.5 (vaccinations), and part 5 signed by CS.

The problem is that many Civil Surgeon are blood sucking leeches who will try to convince you that you need a full exam again, with bloodwork and new vaccines when you DON'T. You don't need any of it. If her exam was done before June 1, 2008, she doesn't need the new vaccines nor the new TB test. The CS will usually charge anywhere from $250-400 (someone just posted that they paid $600) for an exam and you don't even need it.

That's the technical requirement. In reality, many of us have just sent in a COPY of the DS-3025 (vaccination worksheet). Many have been approved just sending that, others have gotten an RFE, so it's your call. My wife and I sent hers on July 23rd and it wasn't rejected and her case was then transferred to CSC for approval. Her EAD was just approved too. I don't want to speak too soon, but I think we're going to be ok.

Our reasoning was similar to others... why waste money on something you may not have to. If you get an RFE, you can then get the form signed by a CS and pay the fee. The delay isn't too bad, maybe a couple of weeks.

The other option is to use Dr. Arnold in Texas. She's a Civil Surgeon and she will transcribe the vaccinations from the worksheet onto the I-693 and sign it for $20. It's all done through the mail and it's pretty fast. Do a search for her contact info if interested.

Thanks...I think I am going to just copy the worksheet and send it in. The exam was done in March 2008......the whole system is based on people getting paid...should have just flown her into mexico and met her at the border.

I realize this is tic, but to what would this have accomplished?

I feel I should everything the right way...but people cross the border everyday and don't pay a penny....they get jobs, drivers licenses, social security benefits and our government wants to make those people legal....thats why I said it....just my frustrations...

Yeah...some of the older illegals come get a social security card, never paid taxes or FICA and get the benefits...
