MY DAUGHTER LEFT FOR UNIVERSITY

We took my daughter up to Bellingham, WA to Western Washington University yesterday and I'm missing her like crazy already!!!! We live near Seattle, so it's about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from here. She's finishing her Bachelor of Science degree up there after completing 2 years here at community college.

She didn't take the car up to WWU and everytime I look out the window and see her car, it brings tears to my eyes. I keep expecting to see her walk through the door and see her sweet face.

It was exciting, and at the same time, sad to help her get settled into her apartment. We both had our cries together and hopefully, it will get easier as the days pass. She was the only family I had here.

She's 20, but she'll always be my "baby girl"!!!!!

Thankfully, we both have free long distance, so we can call each other as often as we like!!!!!

She'll be very busy, though, with full-time classes, working part-time, and friends she'll be making!!!!

I don't want to interfere too much in her life, I just want her to know that I am thinking about her and wishing her well.

Oh, gosh. I've so been there done that.

It was just as bad this last year when I took him back as the first year.

But it's so worth it to watch them bloom.

Tell her to don't think about home as much. Makes alot of new friends who are in the same major. Contribute to the University by joining beneficial organizations that will help her in her major, but, socializing as well.

Making her feel homesick will be very bad for her academic career.

Hope she has a successful 1st semester and will be back home for Thanksgiving in a couple of months.

Ach Ray, I feel your pain. My son is a senior this year. I have to say I was relieved when he changed his mind about going to university in Germany and wants instead to apply to UW and Western. Much closer!
