I know that this question has probably been asked a thousand times but my fiance and I are wondering how we obtain the Police Certificate. She is a Mexican National and lived in the US for two years while getting her Masters Degree (state of California).

Can anyone tell us the proper procedure for obtaining the police certificate information in Mexico and do we need to do the same for the time she lived in the US on a student visa?

We are hoping to have the NOA2 approval soon but would like to start collecting the documents needed for the Consulate interview now. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

No police report is needed for the USA.

You dont need it. I was also worried because I lived in New York for 5 years and I also asked the same question and my VJ friends told me that I dont need the criminal records from USA. So you have to do one less thing to do ;) Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone, I just confirmed that the Police Certificate is not needed for Mexico either. :)

Everyone else who has the same question, you can find out whether you have to obtain a Police Certificate by looking at form DSL1083.

It's not needed for Mexico because it isn't available.

I recommend this link for such questions because it not only tells you whether they are available but how to get them from inside or outside the country when they are. If they are available, they are required.
