good evening everyone. im in dire need of everyones opinion here. i know this question has been asked a million billion times already but i just cant seem to choose what to do. which route should my fiance and i take? K1 or K3.

im a US citizen but i was born in cebu. my fiance resides in cebu right now. weve been together for about a year now. of course we want to start our lives as quickly as we can, but i know i still have some bumps to face along the way, specially with bringing him into the US. well im going back home to cebu this coming january. i had spoken with a friend and he tells me from his own experience a K3 visa would be much quicker than a k1. it would be much better if we marry than doing the fiance visa. i also have spoken to others who also tell me that k1 is better. before i was already adamant in filing for the k1 but now im confused!!!!!!!!! i need everyones opinion. thanks!!!

K1's are generally faster than K3's.

Is DCF a possibility I wonder???

i dont think in my case can do DCF. from what i have read with the guidelines. id have to stay in the philippines for at least 6 months to be able to file. correct me if im wrong. ive spent bout an hour reading the guidelines. sounded too good to be true.

If you are concerned about the pinay [i imagine you are]the best visa for her is the K1. If you marry in PI and something happens to you or the relationship the pinay won't be left to "hang out to dry" having to get an annulment to move on with their lives. Not an easy thing to do monetarily for the average pinay.

K1 and K3 visa timelines don't vary as much overall as the timelines for either visa. The main issue is you can file the petition to begin the K1 process now and start the timeline. You cannot start a K3 process until after you marry. So, from today to visa, the K3 is far longer for you.
