My fiance (the petitioner) is currently living in Illinois. We're just wondering how he goes about getting the I-134 notarized once we receive the NOA2? How do you go about finding a notary public to sign the forms?

Thank you.

Hello-

Does he have a bank account? If so, he can go to his bank and there should be at least one notary working there. If he doesn't have a bank account, then he can go to the court house and get it notarized there. :)

Go to the bank and get it notarized.. some places like FedEx and Postal stores have their own Notary Public. Tell them you need a certain document notarized, your bank may or may not charge you... but the most they can charge is like $10 if you go to them. (its the law depending on the state). If they ask you what type of notarization is needed, tell them a Jurat.. which is a sworn statement.. They will know what to do.. especially once they see the paper you need notarized (which is your I-134). All the wording is already on the I-134, the Notary Public will just ask ID, ask you to raise your right hand, stating you "affirm and attest" that the document provided is true and correct. And Notary Public stamps the document noting that you are signing the document in person. You sign his public notary book stating the event took place... I know this process as Hubby is also a Notary Public as a sideline job.
