I see that some people... they'll vote for either party as long as one of the candidates shares their gender.

As I've said before.... Americans are stupid and vote for those they identify with, not with who will best address their needs.

Well it does show how important perceptions are to people. I think as a nation we've had our expectations twisted by the campaign marketers to put things like this ahead of our own self-interests.

The one thing I will say is similar to between Sarah P and Maggie T, the right wing's constant implication that if you don't like the candidate it's because of some aversity to having a woman at the top or some personal dislike. I don't understand why her apparent religious zealotry isn't a turn off for many voters. My mom, for example, seems to think she's the best thing since sliced bread and is not fazed by things such as advocating teaching creationism , even though she strongly disagrees with that. I don't get it.
