Tegan and Sara, as well as the Stereophonics, are excellent examples of indie music, typical of this particular festival. So perhaps you may want to listen to them before offering little sarcastic nonsensical statements based purely on looks and their "really dumb names".

I went to Coachella in 1999 when it was an 'Electronica' festival. Because of low attendance and drug busts, Goldenvoice had to 'broaden' and 'diversify' the format, bringing these alternative groups to this event.

The first year, I spent the entire time in the 'Detroit' music tent, watching Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, and Richie 'Plastikman' Hawtin perform - DJ Rap was also great. A few years later, there was a 'Planet of the Drums' tent where the 'DJ AK1200's' the 'Ronnie Size's' performed. This past year, my friends and I saw Kraftwerk, Arol Alkan, and a couple other Electronic performers.

I had a friend from work who used to share her alternative groups with me (Stereolab was her favorite). But, I never thought these groups compared to the likes of; The Swans, The Camelions, The Mission UK, The Jesus & Mary Chain, etc.
