Well, we finally got our appointment letter for our biometrics and it's for next week. The problem is my husband's job. They told him you have to give 3 weeks in advance before you take off. It's not that easy to just change the appointment date. Things have been moving quickly and that's a good thing!!! I heard when you reschedule your appointment, you have to do it by mail and it takes a few days. His boss won't let him off long enough to go get this taken card of. Any advice?

Try doing a walk-in on a Saturday before the appointment. If that doesn't work, inform your husband's boss that failing to show up at biometrics can start deportation proceedings.

You really have no control over when the appointment is scheduled and even if you were to ask to reschedule, you probably wouldn't get three weeks' notice.

Just try to have a walk in tomorrow at lunch time from or Saturday morning. If it did not work out, tell his boss about immigration procedure and the important of fingerprints.

I've got good and bad news. The good news is his boss let his off but the bad news is there is a major hurricane brewing out in the Gulf Of Mexico and we live on the coast.

You can track TS Gustav here - http://www.crownweather.com/gustav.html

it is one of the best sources of combined information I have found. So far, long range forecasts put Gustav striking New Orleans area with a fairly narrow outward wind field. Where are you on the coast? If you are towards Houston area you should be fine. If you are near New Orleans landfall is anticipated for Monday so yes, it would cause problems. Try to do the walk in Saturday and hope they accept you and get the processing taken care of quickly. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I would say try a Saturday walk-in as well. I had my biometrics taken yesterday, a Tuesday, in Charlotte, NC. The appointment was for 2:00pm and I arrived at 1:25pm. I could see there was not one single person iin the waiting room nor was anyone being processed so decided to try my luck and go in early. They took me right away and could not have been nicer. You never know, if they aren't busy, I can't see why they wouldn't take you.

I don't understand why your husband can't take a couple of hours off work and get this taken care of. It is VERY important, this is the goverment telling you where and when to go to the appointment, your husband's boss sounds like a horrible person. Trust me, you do not want to reschedule this appointment but if you have to do it, call the USCIS and ask them for advice.
