Some very heartless comments. I guess just because someone is illegal they deserve to be treated with violence and beaten? Detained and Deported, yes he broke a huge rule, and got caught. He played the game and lost. But to be violently beaten like that, come on. Get over yourselves and be glad you are not nor ever will be in the position of this young man, or the circumstances that made him feel he needed to be here illegally in the first place.

the police dont take kindly having to chase anyone.....legal or illegal....when they catch you ....you wont be treated with open arms...

this is all terrible ....but again i guess the key word here is "illegal"......he knew the risks ...and took them......

Seriously,

What is that story behind this hatred??

Gardener charged you more than you expected? The construction guys didn't install the brand of toilet you wanted? The taco you bought a year ago gave you the runnies? And you are pissed because it messed up your favorite pair of pants??

Talking about being pragmatic....

The question should really be....why do you love illegal aliens so much? Is it because...they are mostly from Mexico and....(*you fill in the blank*). ;)

I don't see the post where he cheers the illegals onward... I do see a bunch of posts over and over that seem to suggest you need bp medication. No offense- I like many of the logical posts you bring up sometimes... but try do write them with the bp under control. ;)

What I often find interesting (and there are no statistics or charts to back this up, just my own experience) is that so many Hispanic Americans jump to defend illegal Hispanics crossing the border. I realize there's some feeling of cultural brotherhood or whatnot, but there's something even bigger going on here and I don't mean the argument over "what should be done about illegals entering the United States."

The majority of illegal Hispanics (over 80%) are from either Mexico or somewhere in Central America. At some point in time, the non-Hispanic American will confuse those Hispanics who're legal and those who're illegal with each other and eventually assume, due to whatever media reports he or she has seen, heard or read, that all Hispanics are, in fact, of the illegal variety. This negative outlook on legal Hispanic Americans will hurt them, all due to individuals who felt it was "their right" to circumvent the immigration protocols the United States has in place and "jump the border." Knowing this, why should anyone -- especially those who have the most to lose -- assist these illegals?

I know what you're saying. That doesn't make sense! That's illogical! So's having more children than you can afford or eating every day at McDonald's. Obviously somebody had to have operated a hairdryer while asleep in the bathtub or companies like ConAir wouldn't have made a warning label specifically for that issue! People do stupid and illogical things. It's a not a long shot to imagine this happening.

Just human rights... its quite independent (yet intersects written law at times) of civil rights. No need to get on a slippery slope.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

This is only the umpteenth time you make references to my blood pressure. Are you trying to take Purple Hibiscus' (aka: Madam Cleo) role as resident VJ psychic? As I told her already, "PM me the next winning numbers in the Texas Lotto." Otherwise, don't speculate by practicing diagnostic medicine over the internet.

It was a good condescending and patronizing retort though. Touche! I always give the devil his due. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

I am sorry if my comments offend you, brother peejay. I guess we can draw parallels to making hyper inflated claims in the same umpteenth fashion as posting thread after thread of Houston news articles about ilegales.

Madame Cleo, I like it.

It does have a ring to it...

She claimed to be Jamaican. Something she as not...

I guess perhaps you could cast the facts first. Nevertheless, that street goes two ways.

I'm not sure how that even corresponds to what I'm talking about here. I'm not suggesting anyone torture or exterminate illegals.

All I'm wondering is why legal Hispanics defend illegal Hispanics, when they themselves have the most to lose when it comes to the public relations front within America. Sooner or later, non-Hispanics will associate ALL Hispanics with those who're jumping the border illegally. If I were a legal Hispanic in this country, I'd be pretty damn annoyed at having to defend my legality at every turn due to the actions of other people.

I hope I can put it into perspective for you. A few bad apples representing the 'system' abuse authority and abuse those they rightfully arrest. Doesn't that also tarnish the image of the entire system in the same way since now apparently, you can't tell apart someone whom will respect the rules of the 'system' while others do not. They do have an image in the form of uniforms and badges.

People, on the other hand... are people. Hispanics are not all the same nor do they all look alike. This supposed public relations front that is America is inclusive, not exclusive as you perhaps are pointing to.

If someone challenges my legal status, then you can expect that I will do what I have to do to make sure that challenge is within a legal range to be carried out. With anyone that is legal and knows better, you can bet that it could be the same.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Per the previous post - I don't think there's much of a mystery there. Likely it has a lot to do with family connections in both countries.
