I am so confused with the immigration process. I filed an I-130 for my wife right after we got married on July 15, 2007. Up until today, still no interview date issued. Last I heard from NVC is for her to send in her criminal record, her citizenship from Canada, her pictures, etc. I am looking at other people's cases and they seem to all go smoothly and they file way after I did, at least 6- 7 months after, but has caught up to where we are at. My wife is from Canada too, it shouldn't be that difficult. Are we just doing something wrong here? Sorry, I am just so frustrated and worried. This immigration process has caused us so much grief, we are literally getting depressed just waiting for this to finish.

Have you called the NVC information number yet? What do they say your current status is? If your case is not complete yet your packet may not have been sent to the embassy yet.

The first thing that comes to mind is that the vast majority of the people here prepare well in advance and use shortcuts to speed through the NVC stage. If you waited for everything to arrive in the mail and didn't have everything ready to go when it did then it makes sense that your wait could be months longer than other timelines found here. Also, as previously mentioned, if anything was submitted incorrectly or missing any information/documents, then the RFE to correct it would have added to your time as well.

A fully filled out timeline and any other information (dates things were sent, requested, etc.) would be helpful.

It should be a requirement to fill out a timeline if you are here -- it is the one thing that everyone can do to give back to the community. It provides real data about what's going on at USCIS and NVC.

Pretty much that's where we are at, do we still have a long way to go?

I will fill out the timeline when I get home to check my papers so that it's more accurate. Perhaps you will have a better idea to give me suggestions.

Oh no you too? Who would have known it would be so long. I just get so anxious reading up on peoples time line and their's seem to be progressing so fast.

We are in almost exactly the same situation, filed I-130 on July 12 2007.... it took 9 months to be approved.

3 more months at NVC and our case was completed on 8-08-2008 ...... still no interview

Montreal is faster than it was about a year ago... And ya figure you need to plan the move and getting houses in order, etc. so maybe that few months can be used to do the move preps... doing your household inventory, getting money and banking straight, etc.

When we see your timeline maybe something will jump out at us.

I wonder if there's your wife has a common name that makes background checks more difficult...
