Hi all!

I am now happy to be writing from the USA! It feels great to finally be over here. So here begins the first step of the next process for AOS. Oh boy!

We filed the paperwork for AOS earlier this week with our lawyer. So hopefully that has been sent off now.

What I would like to know is what happened to my medical paperwork from the medical I had in London just a couple of months ago? Was it in the packet that I had to give to US immigration when I entered the country last week? Can I get hold of that paperwork to forward it for the AOS medical, as it is good for a year? If so how do I do this?

Any help and advice will be greatly received.

Thanks

Dave

Welcome! Your lawyer will be the best to answer your question -- the AOS paperwork submission requires a sealed medical report from an American civil surgeon (a list of approved civil surgeons is on the USCIS website). No doubt your British medical exam report is part of your file in the Consulate there.

I'm not sure if this applies to K3, but for K1 applicants, you don't need to get another medical exam. All you need to do is find a civil surgeon in the US who will fill out the I693A supplemental vaccination form. You have to bring proof of all of your vaccinations though.

I suggest calling around to all the USCIS approved civil surgeons in your area because they vary greatly in prices. We found one who would do it for only $35 but others wanted to charge $200!

Thanks for the advice.

Does anyone know how to get hold of our original medical report done in London? Dont I need this to take to the civil surgeon? Otherwise how will they know about all the other stuff on the medical apart from the vaccinations? Was the medical report forwarded to someone, if so who?

It's all a bit confusing right now!

In my case- and I assume it would be the same in yours as we are both K3ers.

I did not need a new medical as the other one I had done in Canada was fine- results are good for 1 year. I did however need to get my vaccinations transcribed (I 693A) I went to the Civil Surgeon here and it was a pain in the butt- I had to explain that I did NOT need a complete medical- only the vaccination supplement. They finally got it- after I got home that day I faxed them the sheet that said this and made a side note that they should be more up to date on this stuff.

When I got to my AOS interview- they had my medical results there- it was forwarded on from my POE.

Your medical is indeed good for 1 year. You do not need to get a hold of it (but you will need the DS3025 vaccination record that they should have given you after your medical). The full medical report was in the brown envelope that you submitted at the POE, it was forwarded on to USCIS. The complete file with the medical will be paired with your AOS file once you send in the AOS application.

Now as others have said you need to get a vaccination supplement signed by a US civil surgeon in a sealed envelope to submit with your AOS (or take to you interview if you already sent in the papers).

The I693a others mentioned is no longer valid. For AOS applications sent after August 1, 2008 you will need to get I693 part 1, the vaccination part of part 2, and the civil surgeons cerfitication part 5 completed and given to you by a civil surgeon in a sealed envelope. That is the vaccination supplement. Essenstially you fill out part 1, the CS does 2 and 5. The vaccinations are transcribed from the DS3025 you got after your London medical that shows your vaccination records plus any other vaccination records you may have. The CS can also tell you if you are short of any required vaccinations.

You should read the instructions for I485 on USCIS.gov and the I693 instructions to get more details. Also you can search in the forum for discussions about the I693a and its new found obsolescence.
