Throwing in my $0.02 worth, I don't like employers telling me:

  • where to bank (I actually SAW this in an Astral Photo want-ad in Calgary that to work there, the candidate MUST have an account at Royal Bank--which I happened to detest, and still do--into which they could do direct deposit)
  • whom to vote for (actually, this is unwelcome from anyone other than a member/leader of a party to which I belong)

I think sassy is on to something--WM is being a crybaby about "their" candidate not being Democrats' chosen.

note: the last pol-party to which I belonged was the Canadian Alliance, formerly Reform Party of Canada--and I didn't renew my membership anytime after the 2000 Canadian elections ;)

Some are going to laugh at the article...but this could have a serious impact on the election IMO. Wal-Mart, outside of the U.S. Government is one of the largest employers in the U.S.

It seems to me, all they are doing is getting their employees to vote Democrat, while management can't do anything about it, since most people think along the following lines:

Union - Good for employees, Bad for management.

I personally dislike/distrust unions.

We owe much of our current work environment and a strong economic middle class to unions. However, they have in some cases, outlived their usefulness.

I don't know how many people would like to go back to the work environment we used to have. Working 60-80 hours a week, in dangerous work environments, barely earning enough to survive. You were fired or threatened with violence of you attempted to leave or complain about the work environment.

Scare tactics used yet again for elections.. why am I not surprised?

F*** Walmart.

It going down wouldn't mean anything. Another company would take it's place.

But personally I don't have much faith in voters to think outside the box.

Just "Walmart gud, union bad".

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

60-80 hour work weeks aren't a thing of the past. It's the norm around here, the slackers work 40. The real bums (like me) spend 80+ hours working out of which about 60 hours are spent on VJ.

But at least your getting paid for it, and your work environment isn't particularly dangerous.
