I think it depends on what your husband's security clearance is? My husband and I had to get permission to marry. You're already married, so I'm assuming that it was okay. He needs to ask his workplace.

I used to have a security clearance when I worked for a defense contractor.

Yes, being married to a foreigner can definitely affect a security clearance. What kind of effect it might have depends on the level of the clearance, and the country from which the foreigner comes. Neither France nor Canada are particularly hostile to the US these days, so I wouldn't think it would be likely to be a huge issue. But I'm certainly not the one who gets to decide that.

I know when I filled out the forms, they wanted to know every time I had been outside of the US, and they wanted the names and addresses of all my relatives and acquaintences who were outside the US. It wasn't up to me to decide who was safe and who was dangerous.

Yes it does affect your clearance.

If its military there may be a change of rate/mos involved to accommodate since many security clearances demand that spouses be USCs. It is a bit different for contractors, though.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Your security clearance is fine for military duties. Up to NTSA (if you dont know what it is dont worry about it.)...He wont be able to do some certain duties like (Embassy Guard and Military Liason Officer) until you get your citzenship, you can be a dual citizen!

And in actuality that has more to do with program eligibilty then security clearance. They cant send him to work overseas at like an embassy or consulate without you being a citizen.....(This does not include being stationed overseas at a military base you CAN go there).

No questions should come up until he renews his clearance; 10 years for secret/5 years for top secret, from the date he received the clearance. Just be honest and as thorough as possible when renewing the clearance and renewal with a foreign spouse usually takes a bit longer than it did the first time. Do not worry unless you have something to worry about. Enjoy your new life together.

Yes and yes to posts #6 and #7. Perhaps the non USC will be a USC by renewal time. Just be careful when you disclose your marital status in the interim.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

lol... he is a USC and do not plan to take any of my other citizenship anytime soon... (bah, perhaps when we'll be old)

he = USC : security clearance

me = can + fr

I don't know what kind of security he have honestly... (just that he is not be trusted with a nuclear bomb... because a guy from work joked about it when the security clearance people were doing their little investigation.. lol) He works in networking, computer stuff.

Anyway, Thanks for your answer. We will check it out.
