if he/ she speaks english amongst people with broken english, it will always stay the same.. also depends on where she/he does daily business, if it's in a community where it's not required, then they don't need to.. plus.. there's some people who just can't never learn a language correctly..

but are you talking about grammatically incorrect english? or just english with an accent?

i see lots of people here on base that don't. i think it's a decision the person make. they can communicate with their family and that's enough for them. they usually only get jobs that don't require a brain, like bagging groceries, or they don't work.

Let's put it this way, when he says you drink,it comes out "you drinkee." He also works with me so when somebody wants to buy him a coffee, they'll say what do "you drinkee ?"

Or instead of saying,"I'll wait for you here", he'll say I espere for you heree.

Maybe she's retarded.

No,he's not retarded.

well I can see it's a mix of gramatically incorrect english and a funny accent.. IMO an accent is not 'broken english'... it's just part of who you are and period

I forgot to tell you about the time he was going to fight this dude and had a wrench in his hand and said " I fukkie you up with this key." Because wrench and key is the same word in Spanish,he thought it was like that in English too.

but the thing is, if you're not pushed to improve your english, it won't happen automatically.. as they say in spanish.. no porque el burro sople la flauta, la sabe tocar... you can think you speak well.. but if you're not pushed to improve.. well.. things like that happen
