I don't think it matters as it's just a picture of your face, really!

Also, my fiancee was told that all US passport style pictures need to have glasses removed since a new law came in. Is this true?? So we took one with and one without glasses just to be sure.

Eyeglasses should be worn if normally used by the subject- http://travel.state.gov/pdf/Photo%20Guide%2010-01-04.pdf

See, that's what we said!

It makes sense to wear glasses in the pictures since he wears them all the time... but the people at CVS were convinced that this was the new law.

I'd wave a copy in their face lol.

I was told that I had to tie my hair back so that my ears showed

The size is very important and there is a list of requirements but if you go to a company that says that they are for american passport then they will make sure it is ok. They took my pic and then it goes through a computer programme to make sure it meets everything required

You can also send in an appropriate pic to Snappy snaps online and they will alter it to the right size and send it back to you.

I know I was worried when I looked into it I did not want a RFE for something wrong with a pic

also they said not to show my teeth, dont ask why I dont know

good luck

When my fiance got his Passport picture over in Japan, he just wore a t-shirt and didn't shave because that's how he normally looks. Of course he asked me if it was ok and I was pretty sure it wasn't a problem. But his mother saw the pictures and just about died. How could he take an official photo without shaving? And he was smiling! That really got her all worked up lol Apparently in Japan you don't smile for official pictures. So basically I just say, wear whatever and go looking like you normally do. And smile! It's a happy picture for a soon to be happy occasion!

They also don't like any jewelry, anything that will reflect light basically.

Also, beware of shimmering eye shadow make up, again the light factor comes into play.

You really can't tell what you are wearing on top, a plain tshirt is just fine and tuck your hair behind your ears if it is long.

Also... don't wear a white shirt. My fiancé had to go back home and get a different shirt because it gave him a floating head appearance.

Casual attire is fine....Nice warm colors....If you're sweating pat your face dry,so that way it won't make a mirage on pic.
